For those of you that repainted this, did you remove the cape or just work around it? Obviously Cartman5579 and sharpnel had the cape removed but how about the others?

I kept it on. Mine was all painted by brush, no airbrush or spray can

I still wish this was done without the lava effect but without question this is a centerpiece of any collection. If I could only own one item, this would be it.

That's a great display. That's the setup I'd like to see next month when Sauron arrives. I'm not sure if I'll have enough room for all three on one shelf though. If you had to guess, what is the minimum shelf width needed for all three? As it is I'll have angle Sauron to his left so the mace doesn't stick out so far. I really don't want to have to box one up, but if I have to it will be the Dark Rider.

Looks great, I just wish I had the skills to do it.

Pretty easy to do mate mine took half a day and not much in paint,I need to add some airbrush work to the base yet but if you are In the area feel free to call over.If you like it in person you could bring yours over and I could help you with it.
Pics really dont do it justice.

That's my dilemma. I'm thinking about repainting it but I would like to airbrush or spray the base coat on before brushing on the weathering. But I don't really want to rip the cape off. Even the thought of it makes me cringe. :panic :lol Fortunately I can live

Thanks. I'll check the length of the shelf when I get home but it's 12" deep. It wasn't anything custom though, it was a standard shelf.

Double rewards offered today for this piece by ordering direct through Sideshow

I probably would have taken them up on that offer if I didn't just finally pick one up elsewhere and used the extra $45 towards Saruman. But my patience paid off because I got the offer I couldn't refuse I was waiting for.

Just finished my repaint it no longer looks like a giant plastic toy! So much lost detail in the factory paint job.

Agreed!
Sideshow's orange overspray isn't executed very well. In some pics I've seen, it looks as though Sauron himself has soiled himself and his own brew is running down his inner thighs. Ewww!!

Well done with your repaint brettb. :clap

There are some that it didn't come out very well but there are several that did as well. Just as is with some of the repaints that have been posted.

When I picked this up and opened the box to quickly examine it, I was highly disappointed with the look. But when I got home and assembled it, I wasn't nearly as disappointed. It looks fine. I still may attempt a repaint but if I don't I'm satisfied the way it is where it is because it's a great piece!

Ss charged me my final flex today and I have never been more nervous about receiving an item from them. If it lools like armor I will love it but if looks to plasticy I will return it for full refund.
