Finally got around to opening mine up. Lightsabre won't light up. I can see cracks inside...

My lightsaber worked initially, but it started to fade after a few days. It only lights up about 2/3rds of the way down. So I contacted Sideshow and they don't have anymore lighsabers to fix it. Instead, they offered me a $50 credit. As I already have some other POs, I figured I'd take it. They also offered an option to send it back, but I want to keep her.

Damn not what I wanted to hear. It's an EX. Knowing that the sabre is supposed to light up and won't is going to claw at my insides. I guess Ill call them tomorrow and see what happens. Anyone know anybody that does customs?

I was told by SSC to destroy my 1st Shaak Ti's body, they never mentioned the lightsaber and they sent me a new Shaak with lightsaber. Lucky me I guess.

You guys got me worried about my light saber. The nice thing is that I don't plan to use the light up feature often (unless someone wants to see it) but it's still cool to know that it's there as an option.

I rarely turn on the lightsabers as well, but they sure look pretty for pictures. :D

But who would then be eligible to purchase those spares? Someone could potentially buy them all and then force desperate people to pay outrageous prices.

True, but you could say the same about their collectibles.

Just like the way they sell their collectibles, they could put a limit per household. But I really don't believe it's in their best interest. There's the potential for custom builders to use their tech, sculpts, creations, etc, and market pieces that compete directly with them.

To sell stand-alone lightsabers is money in their pockets, for sure, but I believe they would have done this a long time ago if they didn't think it would hurt them in the long run.

Kind of an odd viewpoint, why worry about an unlikely random problem like that? Worst case you just buy another statue so the markup could not be that much. I fully expect the spares to fetch $50-75 from SS if they ever made them so that would be high already, no room for much markup.
