I'm looking forward to your picsI'm also looking forward to seeing how much the mask sculpts and domes will be going for parted out and how they'll look on the ANH body - still wavering on buying a full set, especially as doing so will mean passing on the probe droid.
Yeah, I was going to do the whole parted out thing but the more I looked at the figure the more I realized there were more and more things I wanted from it. I was initially just going to get some gloves, then I thought I'd add the chest box and belt, then I started thinking about the cape and tunic and so forth etc. I eventually came to a list that included at least 4 gloves, the cape and tunic, chest box and belt, should/chest armor and the helmet.
Then I realized even after all of that I would still be unhappy because the modified body I have is still out of proportion. I figured why buy all this stuff to "upgrade" but still be unhappy with the body. Add all that to the fact that it's become a pain in the arse to get new parted out items from TA. I swear some people must stay on that site all day long just refreshing the screen. So what I thinking I'm going to end up doing is selling my ANH Vader either as a full figure or a part out. I try not to have doubles and I really don't have the room anyway.Is it really as big? Damn the thoughts of shortening another Vader is daunting.
It really is. I don't think I'm shortening this body like I did the other one though. Whenever I come across a body that has good proportions
and is in scale I'll pick that up. I don't feel like bothering with another Vader body mod.

I really thought they'd shorten the body more than that. I was almost positive they would considering that, along with the helmet, were the biggest complaints. I mean, the SSC ANH Vader scale issue became notorious.
Oh well. I think the pros out do the bad here. When this thing is futzed and posed properly he looks excellent I think. At least that's what I think after seeing those last in hand pics.

Overall height is the only issue that's bothering me in the pictures so far. Any other weird pose thing can be chalked up to camera angle.
Boba Fett is shorter than a lot of other characters. Vader is "tall" but never appears as a giant in any of the films. Chewbacca is the closest we get to giant.

Yeh, good call, picking up a whole bunch of stuff piecemeal rarely ends well. My guess on the dome is a quick 'sold out' at TA and ebay prices running around $100-120 for the helmet +mask. There is the display dome that could pop on the ANH mask, but my guess is these'd be sold with the whole reveal head.
...this pic puts me back at being perfectly happy with ANH. But Rubio's don't

What about the new Cavill Supes Body? It's the biggest I've seen in a while.

I was working on a custom Vader using the True Type Muscle body, the height was decent and I liked the way it looked. The arms weren't skinny at all.

I have a spare TTM20 I'm thinking I may try to use for this guy. I just need to see how easy the costume comes off before I try.

As much as I like this Vader (putting height issue aside), I'd definitely skip it if it means passing on the Probe Droid. There will be plenty of chances to get Vader, I think, but I'd be surprised if ol' Probie is ever made again.I'm looking forward to your pics
Lighting/wiring is contained within the belt and chest piece. Nothing runs through the body.

I know Pixeltwin tried it with the ANH Vader and the suit didn't fit.

Given how snug the forearms of the suit are fitted to the stock body, I'd think anything like Cavill Supes or TTM20 wouldn't work, even without the other body issues that Pixletwin ran into with the ANH version. Other thing with Supes is it was criticized, itself, for being out of scale and too tall, so seems a poor candidate for a body swap.

The arms are skinny and he's a bit tall.... That being said, I couldn't keep my eyes off of him. On his own the height is a non-issue and the arms don't matter at all when his cape obscures them. Super high quality in terms of detail, materials and packaging. Totally on par with HT. When posed as he is above it appears flawless.
