100% better to me. His overall look now is wow! So all it took was a dedicated fan to school HT in the right direction? Was it always that simple but no one ever did it before?

Oh yeah, I really want the last skull, I think I'll FB HT.

I'm sure there are Freaks in here with keener eyes than mine, but it looks to me that if HT simply took everything above the eyebrows of their first head sculpt and combined it with everything below the eyebrows of their new sculpt, they'd have the perfect Elder head. And they should retain the width from temple to temple of their first sculpt; his eye line area looks narrower in the new version.

Actually the spacing between the eyes is more correct now...
one gripe I had with Tsangs new predators was the that the spacing between the eyes should be that of a persons, because it was an actor in the suit, the wider set eyes, though perhaps more realistic has an overall different character than the spacing of, in this case, Kevin Peter Hall's eyes.

If classic or city hunters eyes were set just a little closer they'd look drastically more film accurate...that's what the first gen elders had going for them...the spacing was good, but with other exaggerated features.


This elder has completely erased any need for me to go back in pursuit of gen 1 elder...
I wouldn't mind having gen 1 elder to accompany him on the shelf, but it's not crucial anymore...

The accuracy of this new version balances the $225 price tag because this figure now looks perfect to his movie counterpart. Last week the scale was tipped against it as I felt I did not get a 100% representation for the high cost. Man this Predator is bringing SEXY back! I am feeling this figure more for $225 than SS Darth Vader for $250 ( the two figures I have interest in 2014

I'm so giddy about the accurate gauntlets and small details. They even did the script on the belt. And to think none of this would have happened if it wasn't for the OCD's on the forum who kept criticizing and finally showing pics to Hot Toys.
I haven't been this excited for a HT release in a long time.

All kidding aside, it's still not perfect but it's a hell of a lot closer to the source material than any Predator HT has put out since 2006. Regardless of who sculpted it, that deserves some recognition. And hey, the man listened to criticisms and gave us the changes we asked for. Respect.

Tsang can do it. He always could. It's just a matter of going above and beyond rather than settling for "good enough." The guy's a talented sculptor and this is proof that he can rock with the proper references. The kind of research that went into that guide that was sent to HT, that's the kind of R&D they need to be able to do on their own from this point on. I truly have higher hopes for the 1/4 P1 -- and hey, if they put out a 1/4 P2 (because a new 1/6 might be too soon) I think he'll be a massive improvement as well. I'll just sell the smaller one since my current mentality is "go big or go home."

HT didn't deserve ****. All credit goes to collectors with eyes, brains and enough bravery to care about what they're buying while not caring about name-calling by others

Nice analysis. I probably shouldn't have written, "eye line area," as it's pretty ambiguous. I was actually referring to the width of the total area on his face that would be affected by a blindfold if he were to wear one. I initially thought that it had been shortened or narrowed a tad from the first sculpt, but now I'm thinking that my eyes may have misjudged the proportions due to the lighting. Anyway, I still think HT has a total winner if they just replace the forehead on the new sculpt with that of the old sculpt. This dude is too cool of a character not to get perfect, especially when it's clearly within HT's ability to do so. Again, no new modifications necessary -- just combine the best of both sculpts. If I was even slightly proficient at PS, I'd attempt a mockup. Unfortunately, I'm terrible.
