Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

I have only unboxed 1 of the 7 HOA that I have but both of my panels have those same clear spots and on both panels, they are in the exact some spot. Definitely a QC issue.

Thanks for looking at your Wall Panels. Can you also look at the top piece of the HOA box, it looks like a glue seam the where the top and the front piece meets. Out of 7 HOA's only 2 of mine have no visible seam. The rest look like they are miss aligned which results in some having a rough lip and some flush.

It really seems that only a handful of us have ordered and own this set in hand as of today. I've only heard feedback from Adello25. I posted on Facebook and Terrance Tee has the same problem with the Front seam glue lines as I do. He has not looked at his Wall panels yet. I have a case open with BBTS and they are investigating, but afraid that because not many people have this set in hand that we cant make a valid case that this first run has QC issues. I don't want to dismiss these issues since this is an 800 plus 60 shipping set.

Please respond to the last few posts by me and Adello25 if you have this set in hand and see these issues, or ones I missed.

Thanks everyone for your help.....

Ok well if nobody owns or has time to examine their set for QC issues besides me Adello25, and Hookietwo then I guess Ill post a pic of what Ive been working on to get some more eyes. Everyone loves pics and I'm tired of reading all the arguing in the Chitauri thread.

Here is what Ive done. All hardwired power for a greener cleaner alternative to 42 batteries :rotfl

Great pics Lotus

I didn't reply to your first post b/c I really didn't understand your concern. After looking at the pics, I think I see now.

You're concerned about the gap in the "roof" of the unit, I think. All of mine have that gap.

I think they are mostly like that. Some have a slightly smaller gap though, I agree.

On your clear spots on the frosted glass panels, I don't have that problem.

I don't know if that helps you or not, but that's what I've got.

Thanks for looking at your set. Thanks for the compliment on my pics..

Yes its odd cause on mine some are worse than others when it comes to the Top glued to the HOA unit which causes an uneven front seam line when you look at the HOA from the front. 2 of mine have no seam which means it was lined up perfectly. I just would have thought that Hot Toys could do a better job with aligning the Top.

As for the LED Slide in Wall Separator Panels 6 out of 14 have the clear random placed spots where the frosting process didn't take. You have to put batteries in them, or shine a flash light behind the panels to see them. When they are on it looks like I have 2 holes in each panel where its clear. Its one of those things you look for once the excitement wears off from the original unboxing. This is where Hot Toys grabs our emotions and then once you sit back and relax you start to notice the imperfections and then think hmm 800 plus 65 shipping.....:gah:

Can anyone link the adapter that will work with this? Just got my set and I'm not looking to waste 20 batteries to light this up.

You can go to Walmart or Radioshack to get a Universal AC/DC adapter.. They come with a bunch of universal plugs and a switch that changes the voltage. You need a 4.5Volts @ 2amps.

I personally used an adapter I had laying around from an old Linksys router. Some Cell phone chargers are also around 4.5volts just pay attention to how many amps it can produce. Look around your house for ac/dc adapters from old electronics. Maybe even a USB hub.

1 AA battery =1.5V @ 2400mAh
This means a AA battery can produce 1.5v & 2.4 amps of draw for 1 hour
3AA batteries @ 1.5V = 4.5volts
So 4.5 or 5Volts @ 2amps which is 2000 mA adapter is needed.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

^^ You only need one adapter plugged into one display piece. When you add more pieces the current runs to all of them.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Does this mean I need one of these per piece? I have 7 armours.

Just one adapter will power all the base interior base lights. When you connect them together the power flows from one unit to the next. You will need to be creative when it comes to the slide in LED separator walls. These slide in walls take 3 AA batteries each that will not be powered by the adapter. You have to use 21 batteries or hard wire them together which takes a little skill patience and time to make. Then once you hardwire the walls you will need a second a/C to D/C adapter to power them or just splice the wiring into the primary adapter you used for the base interior lights.

All of this is much easier to understand when you have the HOA in front of you and can see how Hot Toys designed them.

Hey sweet! Thanks for clarifying for me! Makes perfect sense.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Have anyone tried stacking these on top of each other? I'm thinking of doing a 4x2 or 3x3 HoA using these pieces, the vertical space would make it much easier to display.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

For those of you that have done the sidewall light linking mod, once I have all 8 walls linked through a splitter and the positive and negative wires off of that, what kind of adapter would I need to hook this up to?

I already have a 4.5V adapter for the rest of the HOA lights, but I don't feel comfortable splicing into that.

Can anyone link me the adapter used for the side wall lights? Thanks!

Your A/C to D/C adapter is 4.5v. How many AMPS is it?

It's 1300 mA, I got this one:

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

If its 1.3 amps, I would buy another one of those. OR look around your house for old Cell phone chargers. I found one in my Junk box that was 5v @ 2amps. Works perfectly for the Wall Panels. So I have 2 adapters. One powers the connected bases and one powers the Wall Panels.

1 AA battery =1.5V @ 2400mAh
This means a AA battery can produce 1.5v & 2.4 amps of draw for 1 hour
3AA batteries @ 1.5V = 4.5volts

Congrats man. :hi5: The set is nice to have, but let us know if you see any of he mentioned QC issues. Like Clear spots on the Frosted glass Wall panels, or the tops of the HOA glued on unevenly causing a weird looking seam.

Post some pics once you are all setup.

Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

Got a set of four a few days ago, still haven't opened it. Was gonna wait till Midas arrives to rearrange my set with the hall of armor but maybe I should just do it ahead of time. Gonna take awhile to set up I'm sure.
