I'm buying this. The biggest issue I have is where to display it. Love imperial love it love droids. Big win :)

I really need to get this Probot, it is so freakin iconic. Even if by this I mean to pass on the ESB/ROTJ Vader figure, which to be honest I'm not too impressed with anyway.

The sound is not what I really expected, but still I will get this bad boy. Lights and sound are cool, but not that important to me. Knowing this will be more accurate than the Attakus version, makes me even happier I passed on that fragile & not too accurate statue. Though I think I'm going to pass on the ESB/ROTJ Vader figure.

I'm indifferent to lights and sounds on this one... although I had hoped the 1/6 Carbonite Block would have had them :lecture

I gotta admit I'm not one for those kinds of gimmicks, but I like the fact that it makes sounds! I've always liked that weird language it speaks. In fact, the iPhone comes with a ringer sound that sounds very similar to it, so it's the ringer I use! So I really hope the droid comes with the "speaking" part of his transmission.

I'd honestly rather it not come with lights and sound.... I don't really remember any lights on it in the first place??
I watched for it last time I saw ESB, and I believe like the promo shot it only has the one light, so in a sense would be easy to forego. That said, I love these kinds of details and in hand I think it'll look pretty impressive.

Yes, have been hoping that Sideshow will re-do the Carbonite Block with lights and just make it a Bespin version as opposed to Jabba trophy version. It would be cool if it came with a clear stand for displaying it horizontally. Imagine it's bound to happen if SSC is serious about releasing the Carbon Freezing environment. Just hope they release them separately as I don't have room for the enviro.

Yeah, I had one too:

You never know, the other classic probe droid sound could also be included??

That's the only 1/6th SW item that I want but don't have... I really need to look into that the next time I have some money to spend.

You know, I wasn't too enthused about it... but the wife wanted ideas for a Xmas gift so that was one I threw out and she picked it up for me. But once I had it in hand I knew it was the right call... a bit tricky to display, but an awesome piece!

That'd be very cool... and I wouldn't mind the double-dip if they did it that way :rock

I would rather have no sounds/lights and save a few bucks.

The price will determine whether I get this. The attakus version, fragility aside, is rather fantastic in my opinion.

The light features on these items is really useless unless they include a way to hook the battery compartment to a power suppy we can plug into the wall. I mean, most of us have these things in a display case, etc, and don't want to open them up, turn on the light, close it up, , deal with replacing (and removing when not in use) batteries, etc. Nice that they can be self contained, but for the price they should make it so we can power it through a plug in power supply too.

I'm in the same boat, I would like to have it but price will really determine if I get it or not.

There's really three distinct Probot sounds

1. The weird language posted by Solo-Bones a few posts up (post 211)

2. The telemetry sound Sideshow previewed (you can hear this in Echo Base when the rebels are picking up the signal)

3. The pulsing sound heard as the Probot emerges from its capsule on Hoth.

Maybe they'll include all three?

If i would like to buy/build a correct model, this is reference class (but for me the 1:6 Sideshow Probe is ok ;-)):

There are about 4 Probe Droid versions made on RPF (most studio scale) and only one of those is totally accurate, and it is also the rarest and most expensive. REALLY expensive.

Sideshow 1:6 version is perfect for me, and it is pretty accurate as well, the design being made in collaboration with a RPF member who knows quite a lot about Probots.

BTW for your recollection guys: https://sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5888382&postcount=80

I remember reading that when we weren't sure if the bot would see production. I guess collectors are always going to quibble about something but for me any issues with lights and sound are pretty much irrelevant. Can't get enough ESB and this is one of best designs in the movie. Just grateful it's getting made and at a price point the average punter can afford, even if it might be a little tight.
