Re: Hot Toys - DS001A-C - Iron Man 2: 1/6th scale Hall of Armor Collectible Specs & P

This is too big. Managed to find a 40" x 40" x 18" plexiglass case but it wouldn't fit in there but the case looks too good to pass up.

I received my set of 7 from BBTS on Friday. I was shocked to see that they shipped it double-boxed - the Hot Toys shipper box was wrapped in bubble-wrap and is in minty shape! That's great customer service, and one of the reasons I use BBTS. So I got the set of 7 for $60 less than what Sideshow was charging, and received a "pack-out" at no additional cost.

That is great news, mine is paid for sitting in my Pile of Loot. I'm trying to decide to ship now or wait. Can you please post your thoughts, and some pics when you set them up.

Thanks

Here's my set up.
The set of 7 fit almost perfectly onto of my Bestas.
Decided to go without the hologram and the acrylic cover. The hologram only looks good if the blue light is always on, and really only looks good from certain angles. At all other times, it only obscures the model. I was going to put the acrylic up, but the panels are not that clear, and they don't stretch from edge to edge, so it looks a little sloppy in my opinion. I may change my mind if dust becomes a problem.

Looks good! I need to get 24 batteries for those walls still

Damn that looks purdy. Will these fit on top of 3 detolfs that are stacked together?

Is the all of the blue light hue coming from the hologram lights turned on? Looks really nice on the top of the hall as a halo effect. Nice display.

The Set looks great. How do you feel about the Quality of the Product? Do you feel it was worth the 800.00 investment?

Incredible.
Looks the business! Well done.

Thank you!

Yep, 24 AA batteries and a single 4.5 V DC adapter and you're good to go.

Thanks to a comment from Chad on the other board, I realized that I didn't remove both film coverings from the acrylic panels. When I did, the acrylic looks really clear. I added the panels to my display and I think it looks better. Less dust on the figs too. Still not using the holograms though.

So… to answer your question Lotus. The construction is actually pretty loose, you have to push and pull a lot to get the wall panels in, or to get the connectors to light up, and just moving one end of the display will cause some lights to go out. It looks nice, and it's heavy, but it doesn't feel "solid," if you know what I mean.

As a huge Iron Man fan, I knew I was going to get this, and I usually don't sweat about the cost. But I do feel like this was overpriced. One day I am going to sell this, and someone is going to get a real bargain.

But for now, I really like it.

I've got the 4.5 V adapter already. just need to hit the dollar store for a bulk battery purchase. I like it without the wall lights too.
