It seems to be the normal phases a collector goes through. :D

This is very true. Fortunately, I passed right by the 1/6 scale figures and into the PF 1/4 scale world. But I started like probably a lot of collectors here did with Star Wars toys, McFarlane/Neca figures that soon turned into their 18 inch line. I then discovered 1/4 scale PF from SSC and the rest is history.

I have never been tempted by 1/6 scale. No offence to those who like them but I could never get passed the doll like appearance they have.

If people display them alone with a diorama type setting then they can look good. But get too many on a shelf all next to each other and it's doll house city.

A nice custom base for exclusive would be the stairs they are standing on in the end scene of Episode 4:

Something like the Kotobukiya vinyl models;

They did it for han. It would have been nice to see the droids, chewie, and the eventual luke & Leia follow suit.

I know!! And it's killing me....In a good way

1/6 is what drew me into this addiction and it was the realism even at this scale that drew me in. Just few years back w very few (eg Maulfan) taking amazing pictures yet still proofed that these could come alive!
I have not looked beyond that up until recently w EB and HT 1/4 as the few PFs I did see flashing by just did not look realistic to me.
But now that 1/4 EB, EB & even SS is taking the realism to a new level for me it just became a must , R2s lights are mesmerizing!!!!.... As for sound I just have to press my Medi R2 and pretend it came from the PF lol
my 1/6 will likely coexist at least in part as I would not survive a 1/4 Tumbler or '89 Batmobile :thud:

The thing is, as someone who has had both, a 1/4th PF looks like a statue whilst a 1/4th Enterbay piece, whilst probably possessing a better sculpt often, just comes off looking like a big toy or doll, which would be fine if one was 12 and/or in the girl guides, but most of us aren't. So you need that maquette-ness that you get with PFs IMO.

I don't know.. there's nothing doll-like with EB's T-800 Battle Damaged Terminator. That thing is one of the most accurate I've seen of any figure or statue. You can't see joints either, which would be more associated with dolls.

Oh wow, opinion I can take but the Insult right after was just .....strange ...... just glad it wasn't in a HT or EB thread. Kiddies would go crazy lol
So PFs are superior because they look less real but more statuish so these two droids must be the worst PFs ever?

I can't speak the EB BD Terminator. I have not seen that in video form yet. Did they release it yet?

But when I watch the EB T2 1/4 scale videos all I see is "Large Doll" The face sculpt is amazing but from the neck down it just looks toy like. I think it's that the cloths are made in a way so you can pose him but because of this it looses realism. They look too big and unworn. Both SSC T1 and T2 PFs have great clothing realism.

That always tends to be my issue. Neck up = high end collectable. Neck down = toy doll.

Now I like how geil has his figures displayed in his Signature. The Dio look of Batman with his Tumbler help this look top notch and classy.

But I just watched some unboxing videos of HT terminator Endo Skeleton and when he pulls it out I just can't get over how it looks like a toy.

But full discloser.. I have never seen one of these pieces in person. I want to love them. I want the Dark Knight 1/4 and thought about the Endo Terminator but that video made me happy I did not pull the trigger on either. (I have not been impressed with the pics of the Endo either)

I see the BD terminator is out... Very Impressive. Blows the original EB Terminator out of the water. (always thought the original was highly overrated) but this new one is amazing. The clothing looks fantastic. Seems like THE terminator collectable to have.

Ah thanks for the explanation. W/o it I was like WAAAT??
I guess a lot of 1/6 collectors do indeed post pictures of their figures in not the best "light" due to the lack of futzing & posing. I assume PFs are safe as everything is locked in but the 1/6 action figure do need a bit of OCDish type work to get them to shine. But when the right amount of attention has been given even close ups can look great.
But heck 1/4 has more room for accurate details and that I can see in the latest 1/4 and is what cracked my last rule of not going outside 1/6 :(
btw my signature needs major updating but this is the current part of my setup and noway can be topped by PFs 1/4 etc :p

Now i would like to know if the excl. Version have any tips or rods coming out of their feer to stick into the base.. if not I might come up with a custom base eventually.. similar to the stair base of the kotobukiyas if we get enough people together

No problem. I was not the one who said it was a 12 year old or girl hobbie though. Just making sure you know that was not me. But I really am not a fan of 1/6. Your new display looks great but I actually like the older one better. You have to many 1/6 figures together in the new set up IMO... something happens in my eyes when they all get close together that makes them look more doll like. But it's still cool and I am sure they lool great in person.

I was just glad you gave another point of view without the drama so it's much easier to take it objectively ;)
Actually I still need to rearrange it as it is too crowded in the centre for me too but just have not found time yet. I do love the look of proper space for the individual pieces 1/6 or 1:4 and maybe the 1/4 prices will result in just that. My 1/6 collecting has certainly gone rampant and what I used to have in spaced out collection is no more lol

I may bite the bullet and go for the exclusive version as well if you do that. :hi5:

I heard that 3Po has some thingy coming out of his foot to adjust onto the base... so if I would be able to do custom bases, I would need the droids to make sure they will fit...

nothing easy right now cause my wife is fighting eagerly against to droid cause she think (and is kind of right) that they are overpriced and to expensive.. But I keep trying to convince her :lol

I thought so too but after I saw R2s light show I decided its the best out there and it's a go. Show her the YouTube vids. It will swing her vote for sure ;)

I don't usually talk about 1/6 because I know they have a huge fan base and who am I to tell them what they should like?? Topic just happened to come up in a PF forum so I stated my opinion.

Everyone should collect what they like.

I know I saw a picture in the HT Batmobile thread and 89 Bats was pictured with it under LEDs and it looked magnificent. But I totally see where you were going about the crowded 1/6th scales together. Plus not a fan of joints unless its a figure that covers them up.
