Looks like the poor guy had the scratch syndrome too... :(

I am now in the mindset that it will be damaged in some way when it gets here, and if it isn't, I just somehow got lucky. That is a sad way to think about a $700 collectible.

I cannot beleive that there is this much damage on what should be a totally freaked-out-with-happiness type thread! I was seriously considering betting one of these to go with teh '66 I am getting but now...?

On that thought, I do hope that the '66 is packaged well as it had a few more sharp corners and edges to it that the '89...more possibility of travel damage.

I cannot help but feel bad for all the Freaks here that have wanted and waited so long, only to find their centrepieces damaged prior to arrival, I know just how I would feel about it. It does take the shine off sadly, on what should've been a brilliant event.

I wish Sideshow would email me back ASAP. I know they said 3-5 days, but I want to get all this taken care of before August.

Now, if I preorder another from their site, how quick will it get to me? If they have them in stock, why does it say "preorder"?

I also hope they're not selling opened/unsealed boxes.

What a cluster**** this release was.

It's terrible but the way I see it if mine comes damaged, I'll get a refund and be done with it. As much as I'd love this piece to place in my Batmobile collection, $700 back in my pocket can be used for many other things. Camo Tumbler and another figure or something. You take the good with the bad

I wouldn't count on it. The Tumbler had damage to it, the '89 Batmobile had damage to it. The '89 Batmobile is the sleekest and most simple of the three and it ended up getting damaged.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if the '66 has issues. Glue on the glass, messed up paint apps (it has the most paint of the three), scratched gloss finish, etc.

I think they are dealing with shipping the pre-orders and allotment for the other retailers first, coupled with the emails about damaged ones that they can't put in stock on their website yet.

Thanks Fabby, yes I feel much better now :lol

Can't say I disagree though, as much as I hate the idea...I suspect that you will be proven correct (again).

I am gutted to say this... But I kinda feel the same. If I have only very minor damage like the glue residue on a window (so strange to be counting damage as a given at this point), I will probably just take the credit. If it is multiple scratches like some have posted though, the credit just won't cut it... and I really don't want to start the process all over for another- contact Sideshow, wait 3-5 days, ship it back, await the refund, order another, wait for it to arrive- only to possibly get another damaged one and start again.

I want this Batmobile... I NEED this Batmobile. But if it means accepting a damaged product for $700, I guess I will have to suck it up and accept not having one. :(

Well, looks like I just got charged my final flex. Now the wait to see if I will own a Batmobile... or if $700 is going back in my bank. Fingers crossed for the Batmobile to win that one.

Hope yours if damage free. As I said this is my Batmobile. Its' the one that I grew up on and love and would love to have this in my collection. But I refuse to accept it if it has some of the damages that I have been seeing in these pics and vidoes. A minor scratch I can live with, but some of these are just insanity

Anyone has had a problem by having this thing delivered to a UPS pick up center/nearest facility? Is not letting me and UPS says that SS has put a restriction on this specific shipment (never had a problem before).

Exactly how I feel.

I just went ahead and cancelled my PO with a local dealer. It would drive me crazy thinking about the condition this thing will turn up in at the end of August. Maybe one day I'll find a decent one second hand, just ain't worth the risk right now.

Alright guys, I've got some good news:

I was able to remove about 80% of the glue residue on the round window using a toothpick wrapped with a microfiber cloth dabbed with about 1 or 2 drops of Goo-Gone. I was able to buff away most of the white residue. Sometimes I had to chip away at the layers of glue with the blunt end of the toothpick without the cloth and it seemed to work pretty well. It is very tedious but it gets results. Unfortuantely it seems I cannot remove all of it since it is worse towards the bottom where the glue is heavily layered but it does give me some hope that this solution may be some relief we are looking for.

Good luck.

You are my hero... I love this community for things like this. Nary a word from the companies when these things happen... So fans step up and help fellow fans. Kudos for doing this!

Well, if I have to get a defect, I hope it is this.

For those of us that don't have the time to read through the last 50 pages, can someone please post the most common QC issues that have popped up that we need to keep an eye out for when our 89 batmobiles arrive?
