I get what you are saying. I really do. But there's a lot of speculation on our behalf as to what the profit margins are. There's no disputing that the profit is there. HOWEVER, the shift to die cast CERTAINLY incurred R&D costs and i imagine new factories are either being leased or built to handle the production of these figures. I suspect the added cost is paying for that to a large degree. And yes the chair is expensive when you view it as a single object... but how expensive would it be to make one? I spent over $50 in materials and many hours to create the television in my Bateman diorama and that seems far less intricate. If Robbie offered the Robocop chair at $200 wouldnt you snap it up? So what are we really objecting to? It's not like HT is forcing all of those people who want to buy Robocop to get the chair... heck you have a choice. Really the price is exactly what the market will hold. It's smart. And Im not shocked or surprised by it one bit.

Good points buddy.

First photo I saw was the one where we can see all the accessories plus the chair. I thought that it looks good, but I might keep the chair in the box anyway, or just sell it for I'm sure it won't be cheap. But seeing that there IS a version without the chair, I thought we can no longer complain to HT about forcing us to buy it, unlike the Gantry that's always with Mark IV.

I'm always shocked by how American fans complain about price. Certainly nobody wants to get ripped off... but it's not like they are asking Ebay gouge prices yet! haha. If you want an Adult toy market, you have to support these products.

I honestly don't think diecast is THAT much more expensive to work with than plastic. With the cost of oil going down a bit I think plastics are probably cheaper though. I'm sure the process to work with it is different.

At any rate, Toys are a luxury.

Unlikely the back drop is included. HT uses custom ones for those kinds of displays.

To Pop's post, the increase in HT cost is actually fueling more and more custom purchases for me, because they look more and more like a deal in comparison! Before, a Rainman head/outfit set was the cost of two Hot Toys figures. Now, it's getting closer to 1/3 more expensive.

I think the chair option is kind of lame. I wonder what the voice effects will sound like?

Anyways, I wonder if HT has any intention of producing this version from Robocop 2:

This version is included. The 'pieces' feature is revealed when he falls off the shelf. :)
