Will do. Im sure modding my one and only He-Man into this one. I can always pick up another regular He-Man down the road at Matty if I want another one. .

Painted his Harness last night. Not sure if Im going to do the dry brushing though.

This will be a fun project. Looks like he swapped the Legs and arms then? Is that just a simple boiling water swap or do I need to crack the body? Haven't modded a MOTUC yet...

Its actually too bad that MOTU was big enough in the 80's to get a live-action movie given that it turned out so terribly. I'd have much preferred a theatrical animated movie in the tradition of the Transformers and GI Joe movies that featured final battles of characters from the cartoon with key individuals on both sides dying, etc.

I still think they might find success in direct to video animated features, like WB does with the DC characters. Obviously it wouldn't be filmation/kiddie stuff, but I think they could find a market if they do it right.

yup, boil and pop. you'll need to remove the elbow pins to get the forarms off, so you'll need something like a jewlers screwdriver to push the pegs out. you can just boil and pop the lower legs below hthe knee at the swivel joint. they come right off and are universal.

speaking of underused parts, He-ro's bracers have not been re-used to my knowledge. sad really, they're awesome.

I swapped aset og his bracers, and Brodack,s boots to beef up my battle armor he-man.

That only kinda make sense to me. But its important to note There has been video games and kids playing them since the mid 70's. playsets had there heyday in the mid to late 80's. toys have gotten more advanced, and expensive to produce. So have games.

Is not at playsets don't sell becuase kids don't buy them. It's that the playsets are not made, becuase they would be too expensive to produce and sell.

We Lready know that if produced at retail today, castle Greyskull would be a 200$ thing. How do we know that? Becuase it is being produced today.

Now Imagine what the uss Flagg for gi joe would cost.

Yes e ninja turtles have that huge 4 foot tall playset lair. But don't forget the thing is about 70% cardboard.

It's not that people won't buy them becuase they're too busy playing video games. It's that parents could buy 5-6 games brand new, for the cost of ONE playset.

Becuase you can't tell me that a kid wouldn't have more fun playing outside with a7 foot long aircraft carrier using his imagination, than he would playing cawadoodie.

Unless, you know, you're a **** parent, letting your 8 year old drop f-bombs unsupervised, while pedobear sets up a date with him over xbawks live.

I wonder how much of this has to do with the fact that today, there's really just ONE outlet out there: Walmart.

Sure, you've got Toys r Us in some areas too, but Walmart has too much power in deciding what gets produced (i.e. if Walmart thinks big playsets won't sell - whether that's true or not - they don't get produced).

Though it doesn't have finality/closure that I know of (in fact, I think it doubled as the opening series for the She-Ra cartoon), He-Man did have a theatrical animated film in the '80s--the Secret of the Sword. It was the one where He-Man meets She-Ra. I actually saw both the animated and live action He-Man movies at the theaters. In some ways, I disagree with you though in that I think Hasbro made a huge blunder killing off older characters in the pursuit of moving the toy line on. They didn't yet realize that kids developed attachments to some of those characters, or the idea that they might want to bring some of them back later. As a result, they later had to come up with convoluted justifications for their returning (Starscream's ghost for example, or however it is they brought Optimus back). Would have been better to just say, we're leaving these characters behind on another planet and aren't going to follow them for awhile while we focus on the new toys. But if they decided to bring one back at that point, easy to do with a transport ship or something.

No key GI Joe character died in the actual released film, though Duke was supposed to. Cobra Commander didn't actually die. The only ones who did were those lame Cobra La characters, who totally deserved it.

Duke was famously retconned at the last minute to be "in a coma" but if you watch the GI Joe movie as it was presented it does imply that all of Cobra Command perished when the Cobra La mountain imploded. Obviously the DIC series pretended that didn't happen but as far as Sunbow is concerned I'd say GI Joe achieved final victory by wiping Cobra out completely.

Ugh... the skull looks way too realistic and detailed compared to the outfit... not sure I like it...

Paint will make or break it.

I never got that from viewing it personally. Serpentor flew out the window even. Transformers definitely was an attempt to transition the series into the wacky futuristic space vehicle exploits of the 86-87ers though, and for that, Hasbro cannot be forgiven.

Funny though that the cartoon and toy skull on Skeletor is actually more anatomically correct than this one.
