Whilst it's true that one or two may skyrocket in value (the Mk VI, Twoface and for quite a while the DX02) for a relatively short time, the vast majority will never ever even retain retail value.

There are more HT figures that went up in value than not..and most depends on the timing (due to re-issues and 2.0s).

I buy and sell figures so they can pay for themselves..since it's hard for me to justify spending 200+ on plastic.

Ht Robocop, ED209, T2 T800, Barne Ross, classic predators, Tumbler, Bat pod, Dx01, DX02, Mark 1, 2, 3 BD, 4, 6, 6 avengers, Mech Test, SS exlusives ironmans, all the Aliens, Woverwine, Blade, 300, Ghost Rider, Gordon, All the resident Evil figures, plus more...all have gone up in price at one point in time, some triple their MSRP, some doubled, most are at least 1.5x their MSRP.

There's a small window you can obtain HT figures for below MSRP, and that's when it's out and instock(or unpopular). There's a relatively larger window to make the most out of HTs, and that's about 6-12 months after the figure went out of stock. 6 months because you need enough time to create enough demand for a higher price. No more than 12 months because of the chance of reissues/2.0s.

Need more pics of Tony! I really want to po this but HT's promotional pics are just terrible.

The fashion doll hobby is FULL of NRFB collectors. Barbie collectors especially are really bad about this.

At least with things like Barbie, you can see the product through the clear front of the box even if you dont open. Many other doll manufacturers intentionally put the product in a carboard box, because they WANT the buyer to debox and actually enjoy the product.

I cant put my finger on it, but it strikes me that people who have dozens if not hundreds of expensive NRFB figures are maybe.... not quite right in the head. It strikes me as obsessive, hoarding behavior.

A lot of them say that they keep NRFB because they are expecting the item to go up in value and they want to make a killing later. Well, speculating in collectibles is a fool's errand if I ever saw one. That's not usually how it works.

The old GI Joe line from the 70's is another example...The MISB idea is that people want it because its never been touched by anyone, and it's hard to find some sets that actually are MISB...It's a collector thing...lol...Good example is on another board Im on...Guy found one of the GI Joe mummy sets that came with the doll, yellow 6-wheel vehicle, etc...It had never, ever been opened...ONLY example of this set I've ever heard of...And the big discussion was whether he should open it or not...Of course, we're talking rarer, 35 or 40 year old toys here versus the newer, HT stuff...But same principle applies to some collectors...

I was offer two Monopoly Games. Both unopened one from 1939 and the other 1964. The seller wanted $$$ being they where unopened. Problem is people have in the past replace parts. I told him no, and he put them both on eBay. Shipping cost me more. Did I open them. The 1964 one yes, the 1939 one no. I had a open 1939.

Once something gets to be really old and in a box. It's not mint, its old. It cannot be mint. There are people that will pay for something to be the 1st one to play with a old item.

You also have to keep in mind the years something was made. How many was made etc. I have some (about 20 if that) items still in its box over 20 to 60 years old. But I also have another one open. What gets me is when someone wants it minty fresh. Sorry it will never happen.

Comics are like this. When I used to sell then. I had people/collector that would wait for me to open the boxes. I would not let them pick the books but I would take from the middle of the box (25 count boxes). That was about as mint as it would get. They would buy 5 (you had to buy 5 of a issue to buy from me). They put bag and cardboard them right there. Some even had cotton gloves.

When I get this. I will open it, and I will play with it to a point. I will change him around from time to time as I do with everything else. The people that keep them in a box and think they are going to make out. Well. Unless that is what they collect. Then again I open everything. If I ever go to sell it and the buyer wants to offer me a lower price. Being I had open it. Well. I have a 10lb hammer just for this.


BTW The 1964/1939 cost me $17.65 ship for both. Saved $700+ I as the only person to bid. Yes they are real, both still had the price tags on them.

Yeah if they say August originally, that usually means it will release in HK in late October, which means I probably wont have it in hand until the first week or two of December.

However, do I see some duplicates in there too? Perhaps he buys doubles of some for display while keeping a second MIB? There are collectors that do that. If so, this is one expensive hobby for them!

Some might well be doing it with future sale value in mind, but there are those who see the unopened figure as a historical object in and of itself. They don't see the value in 'enjoying' the figure that's inside the box because they are enjoying what the whole thing represents: the moment between purchase and opening. The magic of their MISB figure is all in that circular piece of tape over the flap that remains intact.

I remember last year the Mark 1 2.0 was announced the same time as this figure and had a shiip date of august just like this figure and was released about the middle of september. Hopefully, it will come out around that time. October wouldn't be that bad either, I dont mind the wait as much as I used to..
