If the 360 pad had a better D-pad... I'd say it's the best. Most ergonomic. The PS3 pad just doesn't feel secure in my hand. And dem LR triggers. Ugh.

No but it's adding to my ever growing pile. My girlfriend keeps telling me I have more games than I could play in a lifetime but I can't stop.

It really is hard to sit down with one game and finish it. When I'm playing it I keep thinking "Oh I really want to play Final Fantasy but I just started EarthBound. But I want to play Mass Effect 3 to finish the story but Halo 4 and Assassin's Creed III are calling me too but I still have to finish Harvest Moon!"

It's so hard to keep attention focused when so many of the games are good.

Wow, that's sucks, actually. No sense of accomplishment. :(

To me, it's like picking up a violin, playing a couple of notes, then saying 'Oh yeah I used to play the violin'.

Interesting. I see it more as a simple statement. Like..I might say "I played Diablo 3 earlier today." I didn't finish it, but I played it for about an hour.

Anyways, I love the 360 controller, so the DS has felt lacking ever since I got my hands on it. I'm curious to see what changes they make if any.

Sounds like me almost. I force myself (more or less) to not start a new game until I finish another one with the rule of one game per console/handheld/PC but it's hard and it's even harder to find time when you're a fan of 80h RPGs like me....

Specs aren't that great cause the economy for vg isn't that great. Disc sales are down 27%. If they used expensive hardware, it would be nothing but financial losses for them. In a way, they should be worried, vita is a brick and wii-u sales have are dropping. So are people willing to run out and buy the newest system ASAP?

I couldnt care less about specs. Not at ALL. literally. I dont care. I want gaming to digress. I want gaming to go back to when people had to think up ideas of what made games great. Have new and fun gameplay. Not just have the attitude that new improved graphics make a game better.

I play ps1 games about 60% of the time, ps2 30% and ps3 10%.

Better graphics and frame rate is a copout for gameplay

Can't we have both? I personally like great graphics AND great gameplay. Crippled old hardware doesn't guarantee anything other than weaker graphics.

Id love both. But im old enough to of grown up with the evolution of gameplay and graphics. And by old enough, i mean im pre Nes and Megadrive/Genesis. And i see graphics as an ugly ugly thing. Graphics are an excuse to hide gameplay.

If you say so. I'm 36 and had an Atari 2600. I love nice graphics and think that games have only gotten better. Nothing wrong with preferring retro games, but I don't think theres anything wrong with games today either.

If you're finding a lack of innovation in games today, maybe you should step away from the big budget titles and take a peak at indie games. PSN, XBL and Steam all have tons of very original and innovative games.

Most of the loss is due to the Wii though

I do play modern games too. I just find myself going back to ps2, ps1 and megadrive, nes, snes games. Nothing thats came out now i can say is original. I do buy the new consoles, im not a technophobe. But i just havent enjoyed, really enjoyed a game since ps2

Im not saying its the end of original gaming. But it really sinks my heart when i see people think the future of gaming is specs of the consoles

I'm also into retro gaming and have a massive collection especially N64.
But nowadays they concerntrate more on graphics than the game itself.
Look at Zelda and Turok 2 on the N64 amazing games with great level
design and great graphics.
It took me ages to complete games back then.
But i have gone out spent £40.00 on a game and completed it in 4 hours and the rest is online junk.
That is why i prefer the likes of Elder scrolls games and the mass effect games.
Call of duty is the same they concerntrate more online gamplay than the games itself , in my view the COD games are gradually getting worse.
Especially from COD 4 the online and single player were amazing.
Now they just bore me.
If it was not for games score i would not play the games like i do and just stick to good old retro.

I think there's still plenty of originality in gaming. It's just mostly on the Indie scene.

More power just means a bigger canvas. What developers do with that canvas is up to them, but it does give them more possibilities. I'm lucky I guess that I still enjoy new games and where the medium is going. I hope that never changes for me.

Bang for your back is the same as it ever was. You mentioned Turok and Zelda, but we still have games like that today that give you just as much content and last just as long. Sequels were made by the bucket-loads back in the day just like today and games were super short back then too. Hell, if you were good at a game on the NES, you could probably beat it in an hour. The only thing that made them long was the crushing difficulty. Things haven't changed as much as people seem to think IMO.
