The Size looks to be pretty cool.

I have a few Bowens, but I'm all about the Sideshow.

This line up does look good though, mainly for who the characters are. I'd substitute Black Widow and Hulk for Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, and the line up would be classic, all-time Avengers.

Just got #336 today. This piece is Incredible. Bad pun intended hahahaha. Let me say that pictures do not do this statue justice. In person it is amazing. Pics dont accurately show off the color on this. In person it not only does not look like a toy but it also has a nice weight to it. Hollowgate this is not!!!! So happy this is in my collection. Oh and the fact that it is one piece does not impact it at all. it feels really secure and solid when lifting it.

Just got mine.
You guys are lame, if you like Hulk get them all! Also Son of Hulk is not "THE HULK" right? So the price of the new Movie Hulk is more of a fair apples to apples in this case.

This argument is funny, if you like Hulk your going to love this too :cuckoo:

I don't think it is actually a fare comparison to use the movie Maquette as the opposite side of the equation because it has the automatic 50% markup in the price because it is a Legacy piece. Skaar and the Grey Hulk Com are far more accurate IMHO.

He does look cool in this picture but Bowen is just not for me anymore. I am sure the color and size look cool in person but all of Bowen's hulks have always lacked the wow factor. But I will be the first to admit that I was spoiled by SS. I mean how can one be blown away but a Bowen Hulk once you have seen the Hulk PF and CQ in person?

So your saying I should order this even though it would be the smallest Hulk I've ever owned?

Challenge accepted! :lecture

It all depends on what look you like. If its realism you're after sideshow is the way to go but if you're a hardcore comic guy then Bowen had it. The Bowen market definitely caters to the comic fan while sideshow caters to the comic movie fans. I like both for both these reasons.

Yeah ... you know what I am sorry I don't want to insult anyone who likes Bowen. I can TOTALLy see why some guys love them. Honestly, I am not trying to be a tool. I have to say that these more recent pieces look better then the ones earlier in the thread.

And on the flipside, you're not taking into account the markup on this Hulk because it was a Website exclusive.

On the SSC page they are listed as $239 for regular and $249 for the EX. So the price difference is STILL pretty much $100. However, again I don't want to sound like a jerk. Guys like Bowen and that is totally up to them.

Like all of Randy's stuff. It's OK but not great. Part of the problem is the lack of any kind of dynamic pose. It's why I think smackdown Hulk has survived so well. He has a much better more iconic Hulk pose. When you don't have the detail of SS you should make up for a bit with a better pose IMO.

A couple weeks ago i was singing the same tune. I saw this in person yesterday and my opinion quickly changed. It's the #2 Hulk statue ever made as far as i'm concerned, right behind Randy's classic Green Hulk. Museum poses can be boring and in that sense i am one of Bowen's biggest critics, however this museum Hulk statue is jaw-dropping. It's incredible and i for one am eager for it's arrival.

I thought the prototype looked much better then this. I am sorry if at offends anyone.

interesting, i thought the exact opposite.

I agree that the lack of detail of these digital sculpts hurts them. It makes them not worth the money for me.

Lack of detail, lack of schmetail, this piece kicks ***.

Would much rather spend the extra $$ and get something bigger and more detailed.

JAWS, i never grouped you with the "bigger is better" folk

I agree. I don't regret making a 100% switch

Dude, you sound you're doing better about your divorce from Bowen Designs.

hysterical.

Well the way I look at it is

Which kind of just kills it

It's a nice big sculpt, but you do understand that's the SON of Hulk right. I don't care how big and detailed it is...it's still the SON of Hulk. It's like saying you prefer a Bigger more detailed SON of Juggernaut over a smaller Juggernaut sculpt...or even saying you prefer a bigger more detailed Godzuki sculpt over a smaller Gozilla sculpt :slap

and if you prefer the comiquette, that's cool...i've just never been into aggressive landing poses

The only Bowen that I liked that would look great in 1/4th to me was the Black Spidey Museum pose. Love that thing and would love it to bigger for my collection.:(

You're right out of the HUNDREDS of Bowen FS statues, that's the only one that would be impressive at a larger scale :slap

Bowen's sculpts look like 1/8th panels on comics while SS's look like full page panels. Way more detail for the money shots :rock

holy moley

the piece is a tremendous representation of the character and i like it better than any Sideshow Hulk to date.

:goodpost::exactly: Great pics BTW

I will admit that the face sculpt is pretty great. Looks torn right out of the comics.

the ENTIRE sculpt is great, and the face sculpt is arguably the most impressive HULK sculpt yet.

I actually REALLY loved the Fall of Hulks and World War Hulks storyline, and the battle between Hulk and Skaar in those books ROCKED. I am looking forward to getting Skaar and getting the World War Hulk PF when it comes out(as long as it looks great). They will make an AWESOME display. I guess the thing I was trying to get at is that for me I wish Bowen did 1/4 pieces, and if he matched the detail SS put into Skaar I would be more inclined to look at Randy's stuff. In the end Skaar is almost twice as big as THIS large Hulk by Bowen so for $100 more you get nearly twice the statue.

However, once again it is about what YOU want in a statue as a collector. Those who love Bowen are totally allowed to do so. It just isn't where I am going really.

I'm glad someone enjoyed that. I had super high hopes for a Jeph Loeb Hulk book, and felt what we got was a disjointed, forgettable whodunit. The Greg Pak side run was okay though and I do agree the fight between Hulk and his son was awesome!

I actually enjoyed the Park storyline WAY more then Loeb's, and the art by Paul Pelletier was AWESOME. Best art on a Hulk book since Keown IMHO. In fact it was the whole reason I stated picking the Hulk back up again.

I like the head of this hulk more than the body. Something about digital sculpt does not make me pull the trigger to purchase this.

JAWS, i never grouped you with the "bigger is better" folk

I am not really bigger is better. But I like detail. Bigger tends to come with better detail.

I tend to go 1/4 because that is most of my collection but if a kick *** 1/5 or 1/6 scult comes out of a character I love then I would get it.

This hulk, to me, is not kick ***. He is cool. And while you think he is number two behind Randy's retro Hulk I would say he is a few more notches down the scale. For me he would be behind the Hulk PF, the Comiquette, the Green Scar vs Silver Savage dio, the smackdown hulk, and the Hard Hero hulk.

I just can't help looking at it and thinking that he is just screaming and not ready to do anything else. It is sort of an unatural pose for his face. It just does not fit together. If the Reg Bowen was the color green that this one was I would think the reg is the way to go. In all honesty it's the color that really makes this piece stand out. It looks like the Hulk PF color more then the usual yellow green Randy uses.

I don't know. I mean it's nice I just don't love it. I have the Hulk Maquette on the way when that is released and I am hoping that that is the end all be all of Hulks for me (I doubt it but I have no more room).

But hey congrats to all who got it and love it. I am sure if I saw it in person I would be more impressed. But man when I look at that photo of him next to the Green scar or the Comiquette I just say "meh."
