I have Robbie's and I'm very impressed with the quality of it, he did a bang up job on the paintwork as well. But... I do have a problem with it, and have had the same problem with any of the pics people have been posting of it. The mouth looks in the wrong scale for the cowl IMO. I know, I know, everyone loves it. Just my opinion, I wanted to wait until I got it in hand to judge it properly, it's actually not a fault of Robbies per say, since he cast it from a bale sculpt, it's just the mouth looks too big on that cowl. It looks a lot better on the Medi (which i don't have) because it's bigger. Just my 2 cents...

I agree - mouth looks slightly too big on the DX head.

That is Robbie's. I screwed it up, trying to dremel it down to proper size.

Gotcha. It's hard to tell be cause like I said he did a good job on his run. And I figured that since you chopped up the Bale head I figured you'd take the mouth too. I think someone else did that but I have no clue who it was to show reference pics.

That's not Robbie's. That is a Bale sculpt that he chopped up to fit in the cowl (eyes and mouth) I believe.

But that is a testament to Robbie and his sculpt though.

Oh I know. I guess I shouldn't of worded it like that. :slap While we were on the subject of mouth pieces, I thought I would throw a line out about Robbie's.

It really does look like that at first, both in pics and in-hand. Thing is, with the cowl being the way it is, sometimes Bale's mouth isn't pressing against the cowl and it looks smaller in some shots, like so

And others his face is being constricted by the cowl, so it looks more like Robbie's custom, like so

As usual with these things, the reality's somewhere in-between. I prefer robbie's, obviously, because after getting used to his the stock faceplates are comically small.

Great pics cr0w! You have made me even more excited to get Robbie's faceplate now.

I personally think his is sized better than the stock ones but that could just be good ol' bias talking since I have his on order. :lol

Regardless, Robbie's mouthpiece makes the cowl 1000x better. I absolutely hate the stock mouthpieces that I almost sold the dx12 to get a medi. Thank goodness for Robbie's mouthpiece. Personally, for me is the single greatest mod cause it changes the look of the cowl immensely.

Thanks! It's the one picture I've taken so far that actually captured what it looks like in person.

What eye mod do you have done? I want the squint mod but I have no idea how to make the eyelids.

Is there someone on here that I can ship it to and they will perfom the eye mod for me? If not, someone needs to because business would be booming.

I sculpted the squinty eyelids in and then painted over them with black acrylic paint. I'm not sure if anyone's offering the service here. It was hard enough doing it to mine, I wouldn't dare do it to anyone else's. Mine took a solid month of tweaking to get to where I'm happy with it.

Well great job man! :wink1: That month paid off.

How do most people do it? Do they not remove the eyes from the cowl and just sculpt through the eye opening or do they take out the eyes and then sculpt?

What I did was just remove the eyes, then I took a small bit of sculpey and stuck it to both the top and bottom of the eyes and carved the eyelids out of it. It's easier to do it that way for me. Kind of like whittling something out of wood or sculpting something out of a block of clay.

Oh ok. Well hopefully someone can offer this service soon, if not, I will give it a go.

Someone could at least make a tutorial and put it up on youtube. That would be extremely helpful for all of us "chickens" out here.

Rory put up a pretty good picture tutorial, it will give you an idea of how to do it. The problem is everyone has different ways of doing something like sculpting so it's very subjective. I practiced on an old DX02 head first. I'd recommend giving it a shot on another 1/6 head you don't need to see how is best for you.
