I know, I know... Toys is serious bizzness.

Personally I don't mind people having a go. It can only be positive for the future of the hobby. I think you can get brainwashed buying figure after figure at ludicrously high prices whilst pretending it's all ok.

Ultimately though it's down to the individual to decide if something is of value.

Putting things into perspective is a good thing. Seriously go look at what you can buy for $300 - it is A LOT of stuff.

This thing is not even a limited edition. It's churned out in mass. So in my opinion it better feel like it's worth 300 smackers when I flip open the box. Its at a price point where it simply HAS to be amazing.

Yeah, also, though this is two complete figures, it is the exact same figure duplicated - just one battle damaged.

If it was Luke farm boy outfit and Luke X-Wing outfit in the same package with two sculpts it would tick two distinct boxes, not double tick the same box but "with variation."

This is true. I think most people will mod, sell or keep the other one in the box. Its kind of strange they went with the 2 body's purely for a battle damaged suit. Could be that they can't spread the license across 2 movies.

Although I agree that X-wing, farm boy Luke would have been my choice and still both from the same movie.

Seems a lot of bother to supply another body just for a ripped up jump suit. It is what it is though, I just want it to look good. :wink1:

Well said. Too many here (IMO) are cool with dropping $300.00 for a mediocre product.

Those are great points!

But as far as the state of the hobby, you're paying $300 for two COMPLETE figures, and they're made by Hot Toys, to boot. As ridiculous as even that might seem, in our hobby, and in this age, that's a STEAL.

The fact that they're the same character, same outfit, is almost beside the point.

This figure is a very, very good price.

As long as they don't look like the previously posted pics, of course.

12 days and counting... i can only hope this turns out to be as big as a "disaster" as the DX12! fingers crossed X

It's only a steal if it's at the level we expect of HT and replicates what we were promised from the prototypes.

I agree with the above post.

Two figures and a box load of stuff for $300 means nothing if they arent at that level we expect. It's still $300, don't downgrade that fact.

Especially since the whole point of the DX range is to be the pinnacle of 1/6 figure collecting. The difference shouldn't just be about getting extra bits and some nice grey foam in the box.

Parted out this thing will still fetch more than retail. It's $300.00 but is worth much more when you think about it. You will be able to sell either figure for $150.00, then the stands for a decent price, then the exclusive for at least $50.00 I would assume. Lets not forget about the weathervane. That thing is at least $75.00 or more.

Most people won't want to spend that much on the whole package and want just the parts they crave. Which works out well for those who want to keep the other half. Win win.

You can barely get a Sideshow figure for $150. DX12 is only $20 cheaper than the full DX07 set.

There is nothing premium about the price of this.

It's really just the total price we're taling about and the amount of competition something at this pricepoint has. You've made it clear that you pretty much couldn't care less what you get, so long as it says Star Wars and Hot Toys on the box, but not everyone is so quick to throw away $300.00.

That's for you to decide. $300 is premium in my book and I'd say the majority are not interested in the second body. There is nothing overly complicated about this figure design wise. Even the material looks like basic cloth.

Actually all they have to do is nail a head sculpt and duplicate it. Everything else looks like basic details to me other than perhaps the leather belt.

I guess we just have to see some in hand reviews.

The portraits aren't identical.

Yeah, I don't care at all. Your standards have nothing to do with being overly retentive or having unrealistically elitist expectations. The issue here is clearly my apathy.
