Yep, just remove the screws and the vest is designed to come off easily. I took it off and stitched it a bit tighter under the arms and it made all the difference. They used straight stitches when it should have been vertical to match the angle of the armor edge. Just one tiny mistake, but can make a world of difference.

For the cost we shouldn't have to be doing THEIR job for them. OC failure.

I need to see pics of a completed mod to know if this is worth a purchase.

With the crazy high prices and the constant worry about finial production value... WTF?!! Calling out all the BS on this entire hobby right now.

Yeah...pics or it's still Lego Vest!

Not really sure how stitching on the side can help the blockiness in the front :huh

SSCs is always making "tiny" mistakes...like Vaders helmet...and his cape...and he was a thousand feet tall...lol

I joked earlier that everything will be fine even if the vest is a slightly a different color. ( as long as it wasn't hot pink!) well, it might as well have been! It would look great with his skinny jeans!

You're new here, right?

I'm still looking forward to seeing how much more this figure will shine after passing through some of the talented hands in here and getting pulled around and adjusted.

Anybody who has collected these figures for a while knows there is generally more than pulling the figure out of the box, plopping it on a stand and walking away before getting it to look the best it can look...

Nothing new about that....

I agree - we should definitely not need to make adjustments to such a high end item. It should be perfect out of the box.

Unfortunately just removing the backplate and pulling the vest tighter won't work. The sides are sewn improperly.

(The back must be screwed so the front armor doesn't flop around. Medicom used velcro which wasn't very successful).

I tried a few things before I stumbled upon stitching the vest tighter, including bending the stomach armor plate - DO NOT DO THIS - heat will cause it to deform, and not in a good way. That's why I won't post pics. But that isn't needed, the armor is fine.

The stitching can be done on a machine or by hand and just takes a couple of minutes.

Jedibear, I agree with some of what you're saying. But c'mon. This isn't just simple futzing that anyone can or should be expected to do. Totally tearing apart Boba's outfit to re-stitch it? For $175.00? They're not $60.00 anymore, JB.

PS - I'm expecting to pay $100.00 or so to get this figure fixed-up, in terms of custom braids and supposing maybe the vest is beyond my skill to fix (definitely won't be re-stitching anything). Sideshow probably could've fixed all this by charging $25.00 or $50.00 more. :/

You seem to be happy with the LEGO look for $175.00, so why are you worried about it?

Honestly, Boba Ben, you seem like a decent guy. I totally get that some people complain about nothing, especially after my trial by fire in the Snowtrooper thread. If you're happy with Boba, then cool. Don't worry about those of us that would've liked a model with more fidelity to the prototype. It's not a personal attack.

Sigh... Time to hang out at the local Hobby Lobby sewing section... To pick up a new girlfriend. Unfortunately, I'll have to look for older women since they probably have more experience. Damnit SSC! Look what you're having us do!

I don't know. If you or your mom or someone else could make it look less boxy by stitching it for me, I wouldn't mind. I never said it was 100% perfect. Just looks pretty good already. Square vest is actually the only thing about him that bugs me a bit.

So that addresses the vest issue, now... who is going to be the first to do a complete repaint of the armor and helm? :huh

Point taken, sir. And it does seem pretty apparent by the number of photos and comments that this "vest" issue is over that simple "futzing" line...

....but since there have been photos posted of the figure in different poses and with the outfit adjusted that seem to make that problem less apparent, I'm still going to reserve final judgement until I have the figure out of the box in front of me and can do some adjustments of my own.

I'll keep that hat around in case I have to eat it later....:)
