Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

You're taking this way too seriously :lol
I would say that's the exact opposite in this situation...I mean, weren't you just listing the fact that the alien lifeform maturing quicker than most creatures on Earth would, as a fault with the movie?

Somthing that takes place in every Alien movie that has been made...? All the way back to the original in 79...?

Just sayin

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Haven't seen it yet. I still plan on watching it and I'm almost 100% sure I'll dig it (considering I like Event Horizon and that's a piece of crap). But from everything I've read and continue to read I have 0 interest in the back story these assclowns are trying to tack-on.

And before any of Ridley's followers on here claim that the whole Space Jesus thing is at least original for a movie go watch John Carpenter's "Prince of Darkness". Jesus was an Extra-terrestrial in that too. And that movie came out in 1987.

I still don't get how one can enjoy a film after knowing EVERYTHING about it, how the story unfolds, all the secrets, etc.... but to each his own!

Hope you like it.

So once you watch a film you can never enjoy it again/re-watch it? You must hate remakes/movies based on history/books as well. :lol

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

It was a throwaway line mostly, but... it's not so much a question of biology but physics, and, more specifically, energy. Growth is a function of the input of energy, and that has to come from somewhere. Whatever kind of creature you're dealing with. Like I said, roughly the same idea was presented in Alien/Aliens, but where it didn't bother me then, in this context it was one those things that stood out as a bit too silly and convenient.

The rapid accumulation of biomass when the organism in question has not absorbed much, or any food, has been a logical flaw in the "Alien" movies since the first film.

A logical flaw here and there, I can live with. Its when they lie scattered thick on the ground that I become annoyed, and this is in large part my problem with Prometheus.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Saw the movie yesterday. I liked it o.k. Some observations...

Why did David infect the guy?
Why try to touch a weird ass looking snake thing?
Why did the Engineer attack them?
Why run in a straight line when the horse shoe spacecraft is rolling towards you?
Why open the door to your shipmate, who you found dead, and now is doing the crabwalk from the Exorcist?
The black goo...it just does to many things at random. It creates, destroys, mutates, and resurrects the dead?
Map the place out first before exploring.
The Alien Queen mural on the wall but was the alien popping out of the Engineer a different type?
The human ship why didn't it have any weapons or missile? Wouldn't they think they might need some missile in case of enemies?
Was that a mutated sperm-squid-adventurer?
At the start of the movie, the Engineer drank some black goo to make humans? Wouldn't it make a bunch of alien mutant things first instead of humans?

I still liked it though.

Get out of here with your logical thought-processes! :rotfl

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Wow. I am surprised you responded at all and when you did you elected the most pathetic cop-out I can imagine: "Apples and oranges"..

Are you totally clueless or just trying to act like jackass? You're taking the argument in two totally different directions. Do you want to discuss the film being more authentic? Or the history of technology on planet earth? Which is it? You can't do both.

You really think that we will be at the same technology level as the people in the film in only 81 years? If not, then why the argument to make the film more authentic?

How do you make the film more authentic without losing most of the story elements? By making the CEO of Weyland Industries Japanese? Please. That's a drop in the bucket compared to EVERYTHING else in the film. How about you tackel the problem of a spacecraft being able to travel billions of miles when there's no space program on this planet that's even close to that level of space travel?

Can't do it, can't you? And there's no point to do it, just like there's no point in making the CEO of Weyland Industries Japanese. Weyland doesn't even sound Japanese. You wan't more authentic? Wait a few years until Yutani is added to name. Or see the film for what it is and stop complaining about trivial details.

It is telling that you only present an actual argument in response to a meaningless quip about the iPhone rather than the point about how fast technology has advanced historically (and thus is likely to in the future)..

It was far from meaingless. You put it there for reason and you're reason is HIGHLY flawed. Obsolete in a year? Give me a break. No moble device is obsolete in a year. You don't need a new iPhone every year. You don't need to keep up the Joneses. If you really think that then you're just a slave to the coporations. So... go get a job working for Weyland.

That is a meaningless accusation with nothing to back it up. That is more or less what I would expect from your earlier attack on tinister.

Clealy it's not because you don't care about ANYTHING I've said and all you can do is ram your our ideas down my throat.

One would be justified in remarking that both of these films actually made more sense than Prometheus, which is especially in the case of Event Horizon is a damning indictment indeed.

I had forgotten all about Prince of Darkness. That movie definitely made you think. Not to mention it was scarier than Prometheus. As far as the Chariots of the Gods sort of backstory in Prometheus, I could live with that and dont automatically think it ruins the movie. It could have been intriguing. No one thing ruins Prometheus, its a landslide of problems.... I don't even know which specifically, there are so many of them.

Wor-gar: I see that you're one of those who thinks posting witty .gifs stands in for a real argument. Let me know when you have something cogent to add, until then I'll dismiss that as... well. You get my drift.

It's not a logical flaw though..it's an alien.
