Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I was immersed until I got a good look at the thing. :lol

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I wonder if we were originally going to be used as vessels for somthing, since we shared their DNA and all..

It seems like we would eventually evolve into the Engineers, also.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

People either loved this movie or hated it -- and all for the same reasons. It really does depend on the viewer's perspective because what some consider to be a fault, others can consider a strength.

Not me, I both enjoyed it and was frustrated by it in equal measure. I don't think anyone can reasonably deny that the script is flawed. At the same time it is visually stunning and sets in train some interesting narrative arcs.

If Jim Cameron had put this out, I would've been, "that figures", and enjoyed it for what it was. But I did expect more from Scott in so far as story and character development goes. I think it is a better movie than Avatar (if the two should even be compared) - and yet I wasn't as disappointed in Avatar because my expectations were different.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Ridley's knew what he was doing he got people taking about his movie good or bad .

It's got people talking. I think in the long run that's a good thing for the film. It's what Ridley wanted and I really do hope we get a sequel.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

To me no reason for it to be there- Shaw and David go off to the sky...whatever else happens can be left to your imagination- we know the Alien is coming in time...

If that scene wasn't in there people would have complained even more that it wasn't alieny enough.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

i agree with the "talking" get people talking part...a couple of scenes are open to interpretations, like the intro alone gets you talking.

BUT some if not most of the talk are from jumping from one plot hole to another.

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I am just happy to have some information on the Space Jockey (or Engineer...whatever) and think a sequel will get made. If not though, I am fine with the information we did get. Yes, I would like to know why the Engineers sentenced us to death, but it's fun to speculate also.

Seems I will be seeing this 2 more times. My brother and I are going Friday and a friend of mine wants to see it on 3D IMAX....that I cannot wait for!

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Well, why the Engineers sentenced humanity to death is pretty much confirmed

The Crucifixion Of Christ :lecture :lol

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

I am going to ignore that bit of information :pfft: I hate that idea and glad it wasn't in the final version. I hope if it is revealed in a sequel, the reasons are entirely different. I like the idea of 2,000 years ago, times were brutal and we looked like we humans wouldn't amount to anything good. Or vessels for the Perfect Organism. Something besides Space Jesus....

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

Looking forward to tomorrow, I should be getting the art book from Amazon :yess:

I kinda like the Space Jesus idea personally

Re: Official Alien Prequel/Prometheus Discussion Thread

For me, it just ties the story down to a specific religion too much. I would rather it be a more broad reason. But if Ridley made it work for the story, I am sure I would accept it.
