Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Maybe the Queen comes from Shaw ? She could have laid the eggs inside the ship ? ( The Queen , not Shaw )

Where does a Queen Alien come into the equation? Or did I miss something big? :dunno

Something has to lay the eggs inside the ship.

Unless they're Engineered

At the end I kind of thought this was the first queen being born, although not looking like one think about necessity being the mother of invention (ie Jurassic Park and reproduction) It is equipped to lay eggs in other words, not being a full queen persay...

Something I'm guessing NO ONE noticed in this movie. the Moon the film takes place on is NOT THE SAME PLANET that The crews of the Nostromo, and the Sulaco go to in Alien, and Aliens.

That planet Is known as LV-426

in Prometheus, when we see the starmap during the briefing, we are shown the moon they are headed to is very clearly designated as LV-223 on the map.

short version, Not the same world.

I'm of the impression that Shaw goes to LV-426, and thats the place that she dies, and leaves the other ship behind at, with a warning.

just my guess.

I'm guessing you haven't read the thread as this has been hashed and rehashed that its a different place. Unless I'm in the wrong thread.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Heres my thoughts on the ship in Alien. Its another planetoid obviously close to the one in Prometheus. As David said, LV223 was riddled with ships, so it was obviously an outpost of great importance, when it went down maybe one ship got off the planetoid (maybe more, who knows) but the Jockey got attacked and had to immediately crash land on land on the LV426. Remember theres a cluster of 5 bodies right there, so LV223 and 426 plus 3 others are all there, who knows there might be others that tried fleeing to the other 3 planetoids. Theres no reason to think that the signal was set after Prometheus, if the ship can keep a stasis chamber going for 2000 years, why wouldn't a similar ship be able to keep a distress signal going?

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I thought the opening scene where the engineer swallows the alien load wasn't on earth but an example of any planet with life. The sperm (xeno) gestates in him and then multiplies and populates that planet destroying all other life. I think I'll go back and watch it again. LOL

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

I don't think LV 426 is the planet Shaw will end up on. It couldn't be the home world. In Alien it's refered to as a "Planetoid" only 1200 kilometers across. A planetoid is merely the largest group of asteroid. 1200 kilometers is only about 746 miles. That's not big enough to be a world, or even much of a moon. Earth's moon is only 2100 miles in diameter.

It's pretty clear the Derelict ship in Alien merely crashed there. And it most likely crashed there long before the events of Prometheus.

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Yep. that is correct.

"Ma'am I already said they were not indigenous, it was a derelict space craft, and we homed in on it's beacon..."

:exactly: I think it was someone trying to escape the massacre of 223. Since 426 and 223 are so close unless something goes wrong with their ship quickly, theres no reason for her to stay in that area.

The way it's edited, it does seem like they are saying the Engineer at the beginning is seeding the planet, but given the nature of the events that take place in the movie, and Shaw admitting that she was "so wrong" about the Engineers "inviting them", I think you're right that it was to start genocide.

Besides that, one thing people don't seem to be connecting is that the world shown at the beginning, that people pressume is Earth, looks exactly like the LV 223 when they arrive there. Maybe that opening event was never on Earth?

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

What I want to know, is where do dinosaurs fit into the Engineers to humans chain of creation on Earth?

Re: Prometheus - Spoiler thread!

Another theory is...

They created life on many planets.

They also created the Xenomorph. The Xenomorph is an incredibly powerful being, so they tried to destroy it, but failed.

So now they're going to wipe out all life, so nothing can become as dangerous as Xeno.

Or, they're using us for the bioweapons to fight the Xenomorph.

I think they already exist.

That link a few pages back said that when they were going to call this "Paradise" part of the story was that approximately 2000 years previous to this (2093, so prior to 093 AD, thus where the space jesus theories come in due to the timing) that we had trangressed by killing an engineer. My theory during the movie was that they were bringing stage 2 of our evolution in the vials, but after reading that and apparently that came from Scott himself, theres no doubt in my mind we were slated for termination.
