UPDATE:
I just checked, My '89 Bats still has no oil issues...and it has zero posts in this thread.

However, it does have 115 posts in the Iron Man pink panties thread.

Ok, it's been 'sort-of' raised...and then mainly ignored.

So let's address this and open it out directly,

Who are the members on this thread that either have the figure, or at least have it on pre-order?

I'll be no 1...I have one already in hand and another on the way.

After dealing with the leaking issues first hand, I canceled my order at Alter Ego. I'd much rather pick him up later (despite a potential price increase) if/when the issues are resolved than go through this ____ a third time. So I'd say at this point, ownership of the DX09 is irrelevant. People can pretend it's a non-issue all they want. The problem is real.

This thread NEEDS a poll :lecture

A poll right now is all but useless. Look at the DX02 thread's poll. Most everybody who voted no or that it wasn't serious would change their votes now if they could. Maybe in a year or so, it would be more relevant.

It's a shame the mods couldn't reset it when the discussion was at it's peak.

It would be nice if we could simply have updates on whether or not people who have DX09 are having problems and if so, how they are solving it.

Don't think there's anything 'chicken little' about anyone who decides to cancel pre-orders at this stage. I cancelled mine too.

Why take the risk?

Plus I HIGHLY doubt the price of this will go up in the aftermarket anytime soon. HT is probably pumping out record numbers for 89 Batman and Joker. I'll pick them up later this year if the oil indeed proves to be a non-issue.
A little patience now for a little peace of mind

I also canceled my pre-order, having experienced the leaky DX-02 first hand. I want this figure, but at that price, I need to feel more confident about it. I may end up buying directly from SSC once they actually get some in stock. If this ends up being a major issue that occurs down the line, buying from HT's "official distributer," and one that is top notch in customer support anyway, would seem the safest route apart from Nam's "wait for a year or two and then buy at 3X its original cost" POV.

I'm pretty sure nam is just fanning the flames because the panic he's contributing to amuses him.

Freaking out because one person thinks he's got a problem, and 6 others have proven that problem was simply tape residue is quite simply chicken little syndrome. Something else caused what Rory saw. There are too many people reporting no problems to lose your mind over what one person says. This isn't Fox News, so stop acting like it.

To which I counter how appropriately ironic your sig image is:

I'm not feeding panic. And believe it or not, it doesn't amuse me. It infuriates me that the best ____ing company in the business couldn't give two ____s or a ____ about this issue and is ruining epic figures and burning customers in the process.

Additionally, I'm supplying a logical counter argument to those lame, ignorant souls who keep trying to downplay the issue. They did it with the DX02 until about the 8 month mark when they started crying and suddenly expected sympathy because theirs had leaked and everybody was enjoying the karma posts, justice for trolling those who had these issues early on. When reports of Comedian's leakage came out, they tried to do it there too. Fortunately, that figure was plenty old enough to show the advanced stages so there was little for the polesquatters to argue against. And guess what? Wash, rinse, repeat, it's happening here again and the HT fanboys are quick to downplay the issue, pretending it's not as serious. :huh

I'll add, that if someone's perfectly content dropping $250 on a figure that might turn to goop and don't care either way, that's good for them, but then there's really no reason to be trolling in a thread about the leakage issue and its importance or lack thereof, given the indifference.

BBTS has processed my order for DX 09. Did anybody on this forum buy a DX 02 from BBTS? Will they accept a return if it suffers from leaky abs?

I have Batman and Joker on order through Alter Ego and haven't cancelled.

Same here. I am rolling the dice. Curse of the Batman though it seems. I just modded my TF BB Bats right boot for the second time now, this time with a TT foot that I had to Dremel the hell out of. If this guy leaks HTs can KMA on me buying another Batman. I fortunately missed the DX02.

Yeah. I still have the set ordered from Alter Ego, I didn't want to pay the cancellation fee. I figure if the figure arrives with no problems cool, if not, it cost a helluva lot less to pay return shipping.

It's unfortunate that the Batman released in 2011 had worse feet than the one that came out in 2008. I've never had any issues with my '08 Original Costume Batman.

Assuming they don't acknowledge the issue, and I'd actually be surprised if even Sideshow with their great CS does, there'll also be a $50 restocking fee on top of return shipping.

If these inflate to $600-700 a piece, i'll eat my proverbial hat. :monkey1
I say, just look at DX-01. That was, at the time, very like the most highly produced HT figure yet. The likeness isn't even very good, and it's got its issues, yet it consistently goes for big $$. I doubt seriously that HT revisits this specific Batman look anytime soon (just because I don't know what they would do). This is a very iconic Batman look, only from one film, and just like I think will happen with Reeve Superman, once supply runs out, people will start jumping on it, just like they did with DX-01, which at one point was sold on Toynk for a significant discount to move stock.

Maybe not $600, but it wouldn't shock me if it did double in price.
