Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

lmao, i waited several weeks before ordering from them because i wanted to read other people's comments to see if they received their figures, now I got scammed instead, rofl. ____ man, I was really looking forward to the figures...

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

to be honest the thread really blew up over the last two days. ive been checking and posting regularly here as i was thinking of reordering from them; even though my previous parcel was "lost" in the mail.

it definitely has to do with the big orders coming in, and obviously people nearing their 45 day waiting period on their paypal refund. they had to jump ship eventually if they couldnt fulfill enough orders.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

I received my figure but said as soon that i would not order from them again because of the false shipping date and tracking number they gave me.
I was told there was probably a good reason.
No good reason for me to do such thing.
Then even after the first registered letter incident report some still said there was a good reason...
Can't beleive that people kept ordering after that...
Good luck guys.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

Ok, just got off the phone with Paypal & I should be getting my money back withing 10-11 days.. :yess:

Now if I do end up getting my figures that's be Christmas 24 times :hi5:

I think it was because of the buyer who signed for a package that came without a figure. He blamed the store but admitted that the package had a huge visible hole in it when he signed for it (not to mention he paid by bank deposit and a few other nutty things)... After reading something like that, seeing a buyer be so foolish, I think it's not unreasonable for someone to imagine other buyer complaints could be down to similar buyer foolishness. I didn't ever consider buying from this store myself but when I read about the first registered letter I figured it was probably just a mistake on the buyer's part (maybe a letter from customs, for example) just like the guy who signed for the package with a hole in it. After the second person posted photos of their letters though, then I could believe it.

I wouldn't hold out hope for it but maybe, it happens to me once. I placed a $200 order with a store called ToyRocket (now out of business) a couple of years ago. It turns out they had filed for bankruptcy at the time but I didn't know. One month went by, my package still hadn't shipped and they had stopped replying to emails. I put in a report and chargeback with VISA, ToyRocket didn't respond in the time given so VISA refunded my money and then a couple of weeks later a box showed up with 80% of what I ordered.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

I know I'll end up getting some paperwork like some of the other users but it's wishful thinking

I will post updates & pictures of my package..

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

I believe PayPal only covers you for up to $2,000, so you may want to ask again.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

3 DX-09s for $575?!?!? Yeah f'n right.

I love how this thread was started off as "Scammer Hot Toys store" then the mods changed it to be more innocuous. . . despite all signs pointed to it being a scam. Now it's completely obvious it's always been a scam.

And on top of that Hot Toys even came out and said they weren't affiliated with them so buy at your own risk. Which, should have been the largest hint.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

Oh geeez. How could I have missed that.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

Well I'm not gonna beat a dead horse about it anymore, like someone else said. I'm gonna brush myself off, wait for PayPal and hopefully recover this money. Hopefully I'll retrieve it back and be able to buy figures at my local store.

In the event PayPal refunded your money and you still end up receiving the figures you ordered, then it is only right that you pay them back the money.

Otherwise, it will make you no different from the very people that are being labelled as "scammers" in this thread. Just my 2 cents though.

:peace

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

This really stinks, but at least I already have a few good figures purchased from legitimate sellers. I just hope these people get caught and prosecuted on a federal offense.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

It's the right thing to do like he said. If you do receive the figure then cancel the claim, otherwise your scamming just like them.

If they are real "scammers", then it's unlikely that they will be apprehended. Because they are based in a country where enforcement actions are lacking!

At the very most, they will not be able to operate their current business. But they can simply pop up again in another name and form. Not a difficult thing to do.

I have bought many things on eBay before and on a few occassions where I bought an expensive figure, I have had to file claims with PayPal and eBay because the Seller simply disappeared after collecting my money! The most that happened after my refund is the Seller ceased to be a registered eBay user. And they do reappear again on eBay using another name. So, it happens again and again.

This saga over HTOS isn't the first and definitely won't be the last.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

this is a weird way to make money though like how much can they possibly get out of it, they first have to sell some legit sales then run away with the money.

Re: Unofficial Hot Toys web-shop--legit?

I sent the money to the email address he gave me, that's a little different than an eBay purchase. I checked off goods when I sent it. I just really hope I get that money back. Other victims did the same exact thing. What's not to say these guys will re-appear under a different domain. I'm through with purchasing figures online. I've always been smart about this and this is my first time I got scammed good. Freakin sucks. I'm gonna wait for the next show in Miami and buy there or at my local store.

50 figures x $200 = $10,000 and thats a conservative estimate.

Say its double, $20,000 which is 8 years of average Chinese salary. Not bad.
