I'd do it. If they were to do it right. I just think the price is a shame, Sideshow's figures still stand up, imo. And when they released them, it was a small fraction of what Hot Toys is doing now.

I'd dig Hot Toys Universal Monsters and would probably buy them all, even though I'm happy with my Sideshows. Classic horror is my first love, so those characters usually take priority over anything else.
Chaney's Phantom and The Wolf Man could especially use an upgrade. A Karloff Mummy wouldn't hurt either.

However, there really haven't been any quality collectibles that match what Hot Toys is currently doing with their flavor of the month licenses.

I'm so starved for quality "monster" figures, I'd actually buy a Geard Butler Phantom just to go with Sweeney Todd.

Have you seen their prices lately? Red Skull is just about at $200 and he's a barebones release.

I honestly don't think HT could top Sideshow's Creature anyway. We'd likely get a rubber suit that'd start peeling before leaking and eventually melting to ____ inside of a few years.

SS Creature is the tits!! That thing is still bad ass. Him and the Mummy are probably the most expensive one's out of the 1/6 line right now though. Your gona easily pay $200 for him or something close to that. Great figure though. I miss him I just recently been buying back my SS UM collection. I almost had them all but I lost everything in a house fire in 08. I just nabbed a SS Dracula SSE off ebay and he should be here next week!

Same boat. While moving into my house, I had all my old UM's backed over by a neighbor and the movers (my loving relatives) just tossed them in the dumpster. Thankfully CftBL was in a different box, but the rest were gonners, so I'm in the process of deciding who I'm buying back and who I'm not. Bride's Monster was a must but the Mummy was collateral damage at his current prices.

Finally got a box to display on the wall behind my Dracula figure!

Its a SS Renfield box, but hey, it works for me.

Now my SS collection is complete. (Yes, I know Im missing the Mummy, but Im not a hug fan of the UM Mummy and at the prices he goes for now, Im content without him)

Yes there is a wire in it, Actually I won an auction for that Dracula off ebay from Customikey here on the boards. He repainted it and put a wire in the cape and I think he fixed the suit some too. But I was happy to have gotten him. Love Bela's Dracula. And the custom paint work is SO much better than the SS factory paint, IMO.

^^Absolutely right. The stock paint apps, especially the blush on the cheeks, is pretty weak. Even still, for a figure that originally retailed for $30, it still holds up. Just goes to show how we're getting hosed by the MSRP of today's figures.

Got these out of storage over the weekend. In the 80's and 90's I was obsessed with putting together the best 1/6 scale group of Uni Monsters, and here's what I came up with:

A couple of years ago, I sold my SS 1/6 Uni Monsters and came to regret it. Last week I scored Drac, Frankie and the Wolfman at really good prices, but as we all know, Mummy and Creature are sky-high. I'm willing to drop the coin on a Creature, but the Mummy was never that impressive to me. With an old Hasbro Mummy and a SS buck (MP Holy Grail,) I made a budget replacement:

With a little repaint and some more weathering it'll look a hundred times better than Sideshow's.

The wrapping on the Sideshow mummy (at least on mine) are so tight you can hardly pose the figure.
