Sweet pics Batty!

Thanks! I can't believe how fun these things are. Now I'm actually thinking of picking up the OOM commander when he's announced.

Besides the backpack nits, I think the only other thing is that they don't hold the blasters all that well. But really, it's not that big a deal.

More pics. This time with the necks fully extended. :lol [snip]

Thanks for posting photos of the neck, now I've got mine fully extended. Took a while. For the shoulders and neck you just have to work them back and forth or up and down VERY gently (I put heat on the shoulders too) while trying to put as little stress on the plastic as possible, and they finally loosen up a bit to where you can move them.

I also thought they were short as others have posted, but they seem fine to me once fully extended.

These guys are tremendous fun...

Victory/Touchdown!!!

Some droids just can't handle their blue milk in a drinking game...

That was the play-- now at work...

"Did you hear something?"

"Always watch your back."

"Roger. Roger."

"And watch your front too."

I cant believe how detailed the bodies look. The weathering seems to have turned out great! Hopefully I can pick up a set later this month.

Hey guys. I wanted to just take a second to make it clear what I'm talking about when I say the neck is too short on the Battle Droid. I have a couple other issues here I'll show while I'm at it. Just to be clear, in no way do I feel this is a bad figure, and I'm not just being a negative nitpicker, I think this is a great figure and I'll be picking it up without hesitation as soon as I can afford it. I only wanted to share with you guys the issues I see.

I've quickly just drew some arrows to help you see what I'm blabbering about.

1)
In these pics you can clearly see how high the back of the droid's head hangs above the top of the backpack. It sits this high even while the neck is slanted back (which is the standard for the droid) not just while the neck it straight up.

2)
There is a piston missing on the underside of the droid's head. I'm not sure why Sideshow didn't add this, it would have been quite easy and hell, even the Hasbro 1/6 has it.

3)
On the droid's midsection, or stomach/spine area, there is actually a large rectangular hole that is present in both the CGI and lifesize model versions. It's difficult to see, but it is there, and I've tried to point it out in the pics.

This is from the lifesize model that ILM built.

This is the Gentle Giant bust. It has the accurate neck length as well as the piston, but it does not have the hole in the midsection.

So yeah, I hope that helps make it clear about the neck. Like I said, I still think this is an awesome figure and I'll be buying it, so I'm not just being negative. I don't think must of us could get too bend out of shape about these issues, certainly not like the pages and pages of arguing about the details of the trooper helmets. Fans aren't as passionate about the poor old Battle Droids lol

From the pictures above it does seem the backpacks are too big/high.
Haven't looked at many more pictures than those.

Yeah, I'm thinking OOM will be a purchase now as well... I love these guys and I think the two of them, OOM and Grievous would make a great grouping.

I usually stick with the "movies only" stuff. but these Battle Droids are so good, I'd love to see Sideshow produce some Commando Droids from CW...

OOM wil be great-- but having Grievous flanked by two of these guys is going to look reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly cool.

Probally my most hated Star Wars character ever behind say GL family cameo and then Jar Jar, oh and the "death sticks" character too.

It is a shame we didn't get to see Anakin slay Wat Tambor.

Really? He's one of my absolute favorites. I love his design and his voice. That said, I'm also disappointed we didn't get to see Vader slay him. I was hoping it'd be on the deleted scenes of the blu-ray, but of course it wasn't.

The more I look at these guys and move them around, the more impressed I am...they are superb!

That said, the only major change I'd like to see in future editions is how the back packs attach to the figure - one touch and klank! Onto the floor they go....

Magnets please!

Got both exclusive and regular sets in. Found it interesting that the exclusive set comes with 3 backpacks instead of just 2...
