Well i dont normally compare personally especially if their different size products. But it happens here on the boards and i dont care if people discuss it as i dont see a problem tbh.

I wouldn't compare the headsculpt of a 3.75 inch Star Wars figure to a Hot Toys figure - I might compare outfit details - like 'oh HT left out this leg strap that the Hasbro figure got right'

What can I say though, I do compare a Neca 12" T-800 headsculpt to a HT 12" T-800 headsculpt. And it follows that if I compare the HT and Enterbay sculpts even though they're different sizes I will also include the Neca in the comparison. I simply don't see why not. The only thing that seperates them is that the Neca one has mold seams and bad paint and the sunglasses aren't meant to be removed and have no translucency. However no less care and no less desire for realism went into the actual sculpt than the HT one. I don't want to bring that discussion here, I'm just explaining why I don't think theres anything dumb and unthinkable about the comparisons.

Yeah comparing same size products is fair even if considered high end or not. Comparing different sized scales is hugely different for an artist and to the eye so it cant be compared properly i believe.

Another thing about comparing same sized products is the showing of different products on the market, that new or even old collectors might not know about and would either fit their style or budget better.

Talking about or mentioning, but not comparing different sized scales is fine as well, as that also opens up possible unknown products on the market. For example i didnt know about the 1/4 neca predator :)

Where it really p!$$es people off I guess is when it distracts from the actual figure the thread is supposed to be about - sorta like right now! :D And thats fair enough.

It's OK comparing every now and then, it's when it turns into company and product bashing that it becomes annoying, especially if people don't own the figures.

Yeah well he's not out yet so no in-hand pics anyway lol. But yeah soz guys and back on track :)

You guys are not dumb. I would rather call you "the perfect pop-culture consumers" with godawful "taste" in cinema. From what I can see, most of so called "collectors" here tend to spend some ridiculous ammounts of money on every piece of fresh plastic with "hollywood" and "CGI" labels on it.

So Harsh and untrue to an extent as there's plenty of stuff i would collect from the 70's/80's but its not available on the market :lol

What would you consider not godawful. Name 5 of your top films so we can see what your taste is?

Not every.. Coming from a country with a relatively low standard of living I have to weigh my choices carefully and purchase only those figures I really, really like.

Of the figures I would have liked having on my shelf, I had to pass up on Leonidas, T1, T1000, Sarah Connor, Berserker, Tracker, Falconer etc... passing up Supes was hard, but one has to draw the line somewhere.

Basically, I've only got 2 HT figures so far (T2 and IMIV) and I've preordered 4 more, including this Predator, and that will be it for this year and the next.

And yes, I could have spent the money on beer and pizza, but I chose to cut down on it in order to "create" the funds for the hobby.

I like a lot of art and indy movies (Man from Earth and Primer for example), as well as thrillers and dramas, but I doubt any of the characters from those movies would look memorable on my shelf, next to Vader and Stormtrooper. Collectables need to be memorable and, you have to admit, pop corn flicks are where most of such characters are to be found.

Memorable is the key thing for collecting and means different things to different folks. One mans rubbish is another mans treasure, so be open minded.

I would love to see some figures from Carpenter's The Thing, I would love to see a proper [1/6] interpretation of the first [1979] Alien. I would gladly spend some dollars on few figures from Army of Darkness.

I would also love some figs from the original The Thing as its 1 of the best horror/sci films ever made. I have HT's figures from Alien and Aliens, and i also have a custom Evil dead II Ash. I collect OT Star Wars. I have a Salem's lot Mr Barlow etc. I wouldn't call Predator godawful as its a classic film as well.

There's lots more i would love to have but just dont have enough space as i have 80+ 1/6 figs, 4 Detolf's, loads of shelving and some statues and busts.

The first Predator movie is a great action flick and Stan Winston did a great job on the creature. When I said godawful I ment the "aliens vs predator" franchise.

I think 'interpretation' is the wrong word. We did get an interpretation and that was the problem. HT took far too much 'artistic' license on their figure.

It will always be [better or worse] interpretation unless you force GIGER to re-create it with his own hands.

Well at least you aren't being judgmental about it :hi5:

Sorry, but people who spend 200 dollars on that recent Lawrence Fishbourne figure are literally eating out of trash. I wouldn't get a sleep knowing that there are starving children in Africa while I spend hundreds of dollars on some pathetic piece of plastic without any historical background behind it [I think his name was "Noland"].

I can hear the groans and anticipate the sarcastic smilies already but as far as action figures go I think the 1/4 scale Neca is the best version out there - the most evocative of the film creature - for my money at least.

De gustibus non est disputandum

When it comes to starving children in Africa I doubt they care very much about our artistic integrity with regard to the action figures we buy. Any money we spend on toys is money we aren't giving to them :dunno
