Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

All of these items are a toss up until production anyway. Even the awesome looking jacket for Hawk will probably come in different than the photos.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Aside from this crappy looking jacket, I actually like the modernization of the line. Would I like them to be a little more classic (ie firefly) sure, but in the end as a original fan, I know exactly who each character is and like the newer take on them.

I dunno, I think that looks pretty good actually. I'm more concerned with the helmet, and I hope that it is tweaked somewhat.

Now, from a practical standpoint, I'm going to have the reserve judgment. You guys that have been in the 1/6 arena longer than I've been have more experience with this.

I gotta say, the more I look at pictures like this, the more excited I get. This figure really looks great in this pic.

I think it would be a mistake if they made it so you couldn't recognize the character. And companies like Hasbro are allowed to take liberties with their reincarnations and such.

Firefly... sigh... now that one is one I would love to get a classic version.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Oh woof, I never even looked at the back! Yah, regardless of what I said before, not a fan of that shape helmet.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

While I respect everyone's arguments and opinions, whenever I hear that someone wishes that the Sideshow line was an exact 1/6 replica of the old RAH line from the 80's / early 90's, part of me wants to quote Wayne's World and say "Live in the NOW, man".

This selective logic has always baffled me. You, Nam, and The Josh all seem to be of the same mind with this, and strangely only for GI Joe.

If it wasn't selective logic then you'd be demanding Bieber hair on Luke Skywalker and Platoon's Chris Taylor to come with a KRISS and iphone. Very strange...

I prefer Sideshows Duke's head to the 1983 version.

So what time does the CG go up for preorder again?

...still like Sideshow's sculpt better.

And I don't agree that the liberties taken with this line are analogous to the special kid editions of Star Wars.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Well I'm sure you've all had more than enough of me raining on your parade. :lol

I think I've been holding on to a fool's hope that SSC would have a little more reverence for the original designs. Enjoy your figures guys, there's no denying the quality, that's for sure. :duff

Those figures are based on real people and if they didn't look exactly like them from the movie then the figure would be lame. GI Joes are fictional, every artist will come up with their own version of the same character. I don't see any issue with that as long as the basics are in place. Unless you're blind I'm sure you could tell at first glance who each of the figures are supposed to be.

Live action movies vs cartoons are totally different to me.

You're not raining on my parade. I enjoy them for me not for anyone else. So its one of those if you're unhappy that sucks for you but I don't look at my figures and think oh this person doesn't like this. Not trying to be rude at all but personally I just shrug my shoulders when I read posts like yours or Co posts not liking they aren't 110% remakes of the 80's toys.Edit: I do wish folks could find the same enjoyment I do.

Hear Hear!!!

Gotta remember what brought me to sideshow in the first place....and that was me.

Luke Skywalker and Chris Taylor are also fictional. Again, very selective logic. Or is it because Luke and Chris weren't animated? So you'd take a General Grievous with camouflage paint and a goatee? I mean, you'd still be able to tell it was Grievous and he's not based on a real human's likeness right? :dunno

What? :lol

No, I don't care. I like disagreements and people who can handle them.

Oh I know, but for the topic at hand SSC has openly stated that they aren't interested in adhering to original designs and here I am still being the negative one about it. I should be thankful I have more money for SW and HT Captain America. I'm still interested in seeing how the upcoming Joe PF's turn out. If CC is any indication that's the line to get for accurate vintage looks.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

that unmasked sculpt looks pretty awesome. overall it is a great looking figure imo. just wish the jacket was cloth.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

You know, ironically, I don't think I'd take much issue with it if it wasn't so shiny. If it had been done like a HT leather jacket, with a more natural leather matte finish, I don't think I'd have any issue at all with it. But the fact that it looks like shiny bondage leather makes no sense for Cobra Commander's elite guards, ceremonial or not.

Matte leather with a darker crimson. That would look tough.
