BTW, this is an honest question (not baiting)... What is everyone's infatuation with Jim Lee? I never felt his art was all that special, and I couldn't get into any of the Wildstorm stuff. To me, he still represents everything that was bad about the early days of Image. Why is he considered a "superstar" in such high regard? And people still actually pick up comics because of his art? What?

Definitely continuing:

Green Lantern - I'm in until Hal takes over.

Green Lantern Corps - I love me some Guy, but where is Kilowog? :monkey2

New Guardians - Where Kyle goes, I follow. Whoever is writing this, I forgot who, knows their Kyle. I love his reaction when the rings float to him: "Oh, this can't be good..." And the art is top notch too.

Action Comics - I seem to be the only person on this board loving Action, but I'm not ashamed. I'm really looking forward to see where we go from here. Lovin' Luthor out of everybody so far. So pompous, so sinister, so Luthor. :rock[B/]

Batgirl - I poo-pooed this one since the beginning, and I'm ready to eat my words. Loved the first issue. A little cliché, but I'm glad we got that part out of the way right away. Fell in love w/ Gail Simone in Secret Six, and she did not disappoint in Batgirl.

Probably continuing -

Firestorm - Again, Gail Simone. Kick ass art too. A little disappointed that Firestorm is *issue #1 spoilers* 2 people now, but I think I'm interested enough to continue.

Batman & Detective - I'm in for these storylines at least. There isn't much "new" here, but that's okay, I guess. I'll probably drop one or the other once the current stories conclude.

Won't be continuing -

Batwoman - Honestly, now that I write this, I'm not sure why I'm putting Batwoman here. I enjoyed this book more than Batman & Detective, and the artwork is the best DC is offering, imo. Maybe I'll keep it going for another issue or two and reassess.

Blue Beetle - I was really disappointed with this title. I love the Jamie Reyes Beetle, but this book really bored me. I thought the set up was great, but once we got to Earth, I couldn't give a ____ about anything that was going on.

I really enjoyed Action #1 too. Didn't really think much of Superman#1 though. But Action I thought was really good. Looking forward to continuing with it.

I dont know, I just LIKE it.

Its not over the top big guns, like Liefeld.

From what I can see its anatomically sound, unlike Liefeld.

His bodies are proportioned correctly, unlike Joe Mad or Quesada

Its not anime-like, like Campbell.

Its not over the top, but its not bland either.

(Not saying the above artists are crap. well, liefeld is, but I like Lee more than the the others mentioned)

I never liked his X-Men stuff, but I liked Hush a lot. His Selina Kyle is a close second behind Adam Hughes'.

Agreed, i wasnt a big fan of his X-Men art but his work on Hush i thought was really great. Love it. His Batman and Catwoman were some of my favourites.

Just read Detective #2 - really good issue, better than the first IMO. Not sure I'm feeling the love for the whole Joker situation but I'll stick with it for now.

Also picked up Penguin: Pain & Prejudice #1 - Awesome first issue! Absolutely loved it! This is how all Batman comic-books should be... It was dark, brutal, character driven, well paced and tons of atmosphere. 10/10.

I've never understood this either. There's no denying his art is good, but I've always felt that without Claremont's writing, his stories kinda faceplanted and wound up being glorified art books.

Just waiting to get Detective #2 through in the mail. Really looking forward to it. Never heard of Penguin: Pain and Prejudice. What's the deal? Sounds like it was pretty good.

I bought the JL #1 just for his art. The story was pretty meh.

I LOVE his art work, he packs so much detail into it and I just love his style. His X Men to me are the definitive versions of those characters and Hush was the most beautifully drawn Batman series i've ever come across.

I kinda agree with Nam that most of his stuff is glorified art books because the writers have not come up with any truly 'great' stories partnered with him. The Hush story was ok, but Loeb's best work has been with Tim Sale.

Let's not even talk about All Star Batman....

My first exposure to the X-Men was the 90's cartoon show, so technically Jim Lee's designs should be the definitive versions for me. But i just dont like them too much in the comics.

I agree Hush was absolutely brilliant art-wise. I really loved his art there. But as Void said, Loebs best work as with Tim Sale. The Long Halloween is my favourite Batman book. I love Dark victory and Spiderman: Blue. I've never read anything of Daredevil or Hulk but i wanna pick up Hulk: Grey and Daredevil: Yellow purely because its Loeb and Sale.

Yeah Penguin: Pain & Prejudice was awesome, I highly recommend it!
It's the first issue of a new mini-series (5 issues I think... can't quite remember)
Also, if I remember correctly, DC said they'd be doing other mini-series based on different villains in the future too.

Yep - that pretty much sums it up. It's very well written and the artwork compliments the story too. I'm not even that big of a Penguin fan. Really looking forward to the second issue now.

Awesome. Just ordered issue 1. Cant wait to see what its like. Thanks for the heads up. :hi5:

Wow, I actually kinda really liked ACTION COMICS #2. Much improved from the first issue (except for when Superman talks... still way too douchey). And the ending sets up some good stuff. Consider me (surprisingly) onboard now. I also picked up BATWING #1 and #2 and will give that title a try next before jumping into to ANIMAL MAN #2, DETECTIVE #2, etc

Batwing #1 was horrid, it was Winnick going the other way and trying way too hard to make the character interesting. Personally I'd be shocked if his books continue past the first 5 issues. I'm sure they'll cancel out Batwing and give Catwoman duties to someone else. The guy is a hack.

Anyone getting Huntress #1?

My first exposure was Claremont and Byrne, and Lee had/has nothing on that.

Was that those really early X-Men comics? That started with the Giant Size X men issue? I have the first two volumes of Essential X-Men with those stories.

Part of me still wants to read Catwoman #1 just out of curiosity, so i can make up my own mind. But just about everything ive heard makes me think its terrible.
