See stuff like that and realize how a movie has taken on so many changes that even someone that has seen the original so much couldn't remember what he saw then and what now was changed.

I have an RCA SelectaVision player and disk from 1980. I think it's the same as the 1979 release. Only difference from 1977 is the addition of "Episode IV: A New Hope' to the opening scroll. Don't know though.

I've never heard of that technology devil...

I have a question. I was considering looking into picking up one of these unaltered or re-unrestored or whatever editions, but...

Are they legal?

Legal or not, kudos to someone for caring about the original version that made Lucas all his money so he could then mess it up. I like the screen by screen comparisons for those thinking some of us are complaining about 1-2 scenes when it looks like Lucas changed something in tons of frames.

Yeah...Harmy's OT is amazing... 720p AVCHD it is the best you are gonna see at this point. Way better quality than 2004 DVDs. Dark_Jedi also has a great set of the OT out there. It is sourced from the OT DVD extras, but he upscaled and it is anamorphic it and it literally looks 100 time better than what came with the DVDs in 2006. I have both sets...are they legal...nope. ;) But the unaltered OT is out there and in HD. It just takes some time to hunt them down. But they are worth it.

No... NOOOOO! I do not plan on canceling my Star Wars Blu-ray order due to the changes. I feel that if there are changes to be made within the saga to make the original films match up better with the prequels I am 100% fine with that. I would rather Mr. George Lucas make what changes he deems necessary than whoever takes over for him when he retires from filmmaking.

2004's change of having Ian McDiarmid as The Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back- Great move!

2004's at the end of Return Of The Jedi change of having Anakin Skywalker return to his original form (Hayden Christensen) before he had turned to Evil- Great move!

2011's change from yoda puppet to CGI yoda in TPM- Great move!

2011's Change of the Ewoks blinking in Return Of The Jedi- Is more natural than the Ewoks not blinking at all.

I agree on everything but the Hayden ghost. I makes no sense for him to be there. Yoda and Ben didn't ghost in their prime. They're old ghosts. And so should Anakin. Yeah I get its symbolic of him 'dying' and becoming Vader, but he still didn't die until he was old like Ben and Yoda and therefore should be old like them in ghost form. I'd be perfectly fine with the Hayden ghost if they went back and got rid of Alec in ESB and RoTJ and replaced him with Ewan. And Yoda gets to look 800 years younger at the end too

I wouldn't. According to what we've been led to understand the moment that he turned from the Emperor, Darth Vader died and Anakin Skywalker was reborned and redeemed. That what was the status quo forever, which is why the old Anakin Skywalker ghost made sense because Anakin died in that age. Going back to Hayden never made sense to me even after hearing and reading all the arguments, it falls to the point that either Vader died as Vader a Sith Lord and then never became one with the Force or he died as Anakin Skywalker and then should be as he looked when he died same as Obi-Wan and Yoda.

Instead, I wish Lucas would edit the prequels to match the quality of the original films, rather than the other way around!

The Hayden ghost was an awful move, totally ruined the whole Vader saving his son moment...so glad I never have to watch that again now that I have Harmy' HD versions. woo hoo!
