this almost makes me want to reorder the upcoming Hot Toys Indy.

Its just a great looking base for the figure, even if you choose to have him in his standard costume.

It looks fantastic. Gotta pass though...just too big for display.

And...I'm going to get blasted for saying this but...I wish Sideshow would do the "Map Room Indy" figure....heck, they could repaint-recycle the excellent Trevor sculpt, include the staff/headpiece,the "rope" of tied-up sheets (ending in the Nazi flag), the notebook and the other "usual" Indy accessories and...keep the price down below $100 and I think it's a figure that would move...especially with this great looking environment...

I'm really tempted by this. It's pretty clear that HT intended for the Indy to be mainly displayed in the first act/fertility idol scene, judging by the inclusion of the pedestal in their dio, this looks like it would perfectly complement Staff of Ra Indy.

"No blasters!" Seriously, I love this scene, I love Indy's disguise, the map room - but the chances of SS doing "Staff of Ra" Indy are about 0%. Blame it on HT and their DX Indy, which includes the exact outfit and almost all the accessories you mention. NO WAY SS will try to double-dip on that one. A 'sheet-rope' with Nazi flag would have rocked as an accessory, tho!

It seems mind-numbingly clear that this is intended as a complimentary piece for the HT DX Indy. It's actually a brilliant move, since HT Indy in "Staff of Ra" outfit will look like a statue you can play with when combined with this enviro! It also answers a feeling of disappointment I felt when the DX Indy was announced (other than that from the proto headsculpt); I was actually very irritated that HT made ANOTHER pedestal and golden fertility idol for this (in light of SS's awesome pedestal and idol and the fact that every Indy ever made seems to have a golden idol accessory...how many do we need??), yet the fresh new 'Staff of Ra' costume just got one side of a double-sided backdrop as a display. Whooop-eeee. Now I'm trying to figure out if there's some way to incorporate the backdrop along with the enviro into an overall display, or if that would just look stupid. Time will tell, I guess.

I was wondering the same thing, if you could position the dio behind indy, though the sheer size of this dio would probably make it look tiny in comparison.

And yeah, it looks huge! You really couldn't tell how wide the piece is from Sideshow's pics!

Boy, I wish the HT Indy was better so I could display it with this awesome dio. As it stands, I'll probably cancel Indy and this too. I couldn't justify the $200 for this with no figure to go with it.

I picked up the G.I. Joe Desert Weapons Cache enviro (should be here next week) for a Cairo-type look ... or maybe Marion's bar.

The 'Temple' enviro is pretty cool looking, would look good with 'adventure' Indy, but I can't believe it's the same price as the Map Room???!!! You get way more bang for your buck with the Map Room IMO...

As for a 'Cairo' type enviro, I think the 'Recon at Waypoint' actually looks potentially better, with the window and the cracked plaster facade revealing the bricks. You just need some custom baskets on the ground. I find the 'Desert Weapons Cache' looks too "Tattooine" like for my tastes...something about the archway...Looks too Long Ago in Galaxy Far, Far Away...
