I agree many overexcited fanboy posts in here may be responsible for the higher prices. Not just here but all forums. It's free marketing research for them. They are pushing the profit line to see how much they can get away with.

Another great point.

This will hang out for a while, it's so high priced that people will waffle back and forth before committing especially with an NRD at the majority of the retailers, SSC included. It'll be like the Tumbler where it took a while to sell out but once it did it'll skyrocket in price.

I fully predict that after next year I will be priced out of the HT market. Their basic figures are creeping past the $200 mark and once they start hitting PF levels it's time to go. I will not be shocked if my 2013 we see the first high $200 basic figure and that'll be it.

Well the sad part about it is that they are forcing their basic figures into a higher price bracket.

For example: Superman. He comes with no extras. Nothing special and a perfect figure to be priced at $150

Then someone was like: "Oh, but lets add a big ass base to jack up the price some more."

I pre ordered at BBTS, no deposit required on this item there. Got the Gantry with figure version.

What's interesting is that now that the SDCC excitement has started to die down. All of the HT threads are the same (Batmobile, Avatar etc). Everyone seems to be talking about the fact they have lost the run of themselves with pricing. Everything has suddenly become a little bit ridiculous!

Guys, I am new with Hot Toys. If I don't have HT Iron Man figure yet, and I want one in my collection. Is this set worth it to buy for $450 at Alter Ego? Is Mark IV the best IM HT so far?

If you DONT have a iron man figure... this set is the most cost effective in terms of the FIGURE alone. Actually, you'll save enough on the FIgure to make the price on the gantry itself manageable.

Yup you should see people on their facebook :lol:lol:lol

With the basic price of the Gantry it makes the Mark IV only $140 which is a steal considering recent eBay auctions.

In my opinion, yes this set is a great start to your IM line if you have no figures. This set gives you the Mark IV (which was voted the best IM figure in this forum not long ago) as well as a very cool gantry diorama to display the figure on. For the price of the set you really can't beat it.

ss joker pf still have not die down, even with its ridiculous price too. but not as ridiculous as recent ht:medic

$350 for the Joker PF is more than acceptable considering how great it looks and the recent trends with PFs.

$350 for Jake Sully, $500 for the Iron Man Gantry, $450 for an Iron Monger and a rumored $950 for a Batmobile is a whole other ____ing subject.

Just Looking at this price again - it's so high because the arse is falling out of the USD, compared to the Aussie dollar at the moment this will cost me just under $300 AUD, making me more comfortable with the price.

It's very worth it for a starter like you! :wink1:

You get to buy Mark IV w/ a cheaper price unlike the price of the single released Mark IV nowadays. :monkey1
