yes but that shouldnt reflect on the stand alone gantry since there is no figure attached to it

That's just it. The fact that they are selling two versions (one with figure and one without) tells you that one has to do with the other. Here is the thing to remember: They are not doing any favors to those that already have a Mark IV. They got your money already. This is a scene specific diorama prop that relies on the Mark IV to make it appealing to most that see it at SDCC. Planning of this product took into consideration all aspects on how to obtain it. People that never picked up a Mark IV is just one of them. Pricing as a stand alone is another. It reminds you of the Scarecrow/Demon Bats. They make you spend more to get what you want. "You want it? well, here is how this is going to happen..."

A bit confused on this one since the breakdown for at least the limited exlusive is $140.00 for the MKIV and $359 for the gantry

I am taking into account current prices for a Mark IV (notice how HT becomes their own aftermarket seller in that scenario) and using Alter Ego as a pricing point retailer since there are no exclusives. Why pay full retail at Sideshow with no free shipping, right?

Yeah, your definitely right, its just too bad is all. Oh well, life moves on and its time to find something else to put the money to or find out who ordered it and find out exactly where they live :p

That's one option. There is certainly no shortage of nice items at this SDCC. :)

No doubt this has been mentioned already, but all the pricing does is promote flipping IMO. Already have the Mk IV but can't stomach shelling out around $330 for it? Well grab the gantry+MkIV for an extra $130 or so, flip the figure for $250 or so and bingo. Gantry for a couple hundred bucks.

Why wouldn't you?

because the value for him is going down as we speak, and sure to be way down once this thing ships and everyone starts doing that.

Well, it's not being offered as a standalone, but I guess it is a new precedent since I don't remember them packaging a figure with a vehicle or accessory before.

SMH! That's wack. The least they could've done was include a slightly different Mark IV to warrant the purchase. I've never seen Hot Toys reissue a figure until this. Have other figures been reissued in the past?

The closes I think is Gun metal Mk.3 and Special version Mk.4.....

Or wolf predator with different kit.

Or Figures with 2 versions like the VGM series or Icon BL

Think of it this way: Mk.4 with different accessories (like different clothing/chair for In suit & casual BL. Body/hands/head/glasses being the common factor), but one is 3x more expensive than the other.

Powerloader with another Ripley..... with a stand-alone Ripley figure... though they are different enough.

Or the many variants of T-600... with different accessories of the same base figure/body.

Or 2 John Connors...

i'll wait and see what else is coming in 1ST QTR, if nothing i like enough, i'll either flex this or wait for forbiddenplanet in the UK to have and slowly lower it's price, that or OSB

forbiddenplanet.com?

To me a flipper is a person who buys it strictly to seel on a bit later for a small profit.

There's a lot of them on this board. ;)

The gantry itself is not worth buying in my opinion, but with the figure, it's a much harder decision. For those without the Mark IV, I would get it. But, I agree that hot toys is getting to be a little too greedy and reissuing stuff is always a bad business decision in the long run. Not really happy with the company. But, they are the big fish now in 12" figures, so well done and executed, that they can get away with crap like this.

I read somewhere that someone thought the iron monger is going to cost $500. Is that crazy or what? I think people should stop posting ridiculous prices.

That's what I've been saying too, people should stop guessing or posting what they're willing to pay for a figure and wait until the price gets revealed.

Or maybe we can start posting these instead...

"Wow! Awesome figure! A must get! I bet it's around $100-$150 tops! I would never pay over $200 though!"
