Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Im thinking 280-290. Its worth it when you consider the size and the cost of their recent figures.

Do you really think so? I'm not all that convinced that it is worth that price. This really doesn't come with anything. It has a few weapons and a basic base, but that is about all. What you are getting is a body that is about 50% bigger than usual. The shots we've seen haven't really shown off any kind of impressive articulation so it's hard to say how good the possibility is. He only comes with a single headsculpt and no other clothes options as one might expect. You look at figures like the T-1000 and even if that had retailed for $200 I do not see how this one warrant another $100 tacked on.

Though huge, he is ultimately quite simplistic. Yes his head is very detailed, but the body really isn't all that elaborate. They are tall very skinny humanoids. This isn't the Iron Monger.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

With Angolz at $295, $300+ seems likely. This figure looks great and I liked the movie, but I haven't exactly been foaming at the mouth for Avatar collectibles. I also prefer Neytiri over Jake, and I think one $300 figure should be sufficient to represent Avatar in my collection.

This is what I'm currently telling myself at least, as with the 500 other great HT releases due by the end of the year, PCS's Chunners (technically 1Q12) and Scorpion, and Sideshow getting DC, the line has to be drawn somewhere! I'm not even sure that I can justify getting Vampirella and/or Jessica Rabbit! Great-looking piece by HT nonetheless.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

:exactly: Too many other cooler figures for my collection before this fella.

Yeah there are way to many figures to get, when I think this is just OK. Besides its hard enough finding room for Predators, this ones going to be a huge pain in the ass. I will say that knowing this mutha is this tall makes me more interested in it. I wonder if it will actually make it through production this size. After the shrinking Predators of last year.

I agree. The biggest cool factor is his height which keeps me interested. I have a feeling after the toy shows this may fall totally off my radar.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

I personally think that this is an amazing looking figure and will be gladly adding it to my collection.

My only hope is that this isn't a one-off figure. Still with the amount of money that probably went into the development of the body I can't imagine that they won't try to give us more. :yess:

:goodpost:

But there is a lot of hate for this fig and the Avatar movie in this thread.

The only problem with the film was the length.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Cool looking figure. I only saw the movie once ... but it seems accurate. Not a chance I'll buy it -- but it looks cool for those that liked the movie more than I did.

I think HT is either a little late with this, or a little early. I wouldn't have bought it anyway, but I have a feeling it would've sold a LOT better a couple of years ago during the Avatar circus. Why release it so long after the over-hype died, and so long before the 2nd movie?

The film aside, the design is awesome even those who didnt like the film must appreciate the detailing on the body, paint, costume etc...

The only additional thing i'd ask for in this figure is a roaring Head Sculpt.

IMO They should have waited for the second movie or released this earlier around the time it came out on Blu Ray. They picked an awful time to release this not just because of the movies, but because this is pretty much the point where Hot Toys has been releasing the most figures and been announcing the most too. The six or so months before and after right now are so hectic with 1/6 figures that people are basically being dried out and I don't understand why Hot Toys is still throwing more at us.

I mean a new DX was announced and it celebrates not only a new and huge license but a collaboration with Sideshow? Slow down Hot Toys. Baby Doll, Amber, Shadow Predator, Batman Begins, Avatar, Luke Skywalker, etc.. were all announced within weeks of each other. Combine that with all the things coming out soon like Jack, Captain America, Mark V, etc... and it's just a nightmare. To make matters worse, they are dancing with the Batman 89 and Metal Gear Solid licenses.

I've come to the point where regardless of how good a figure looks, I probably should ignore it or I have to replace something I previously wanted with a new one, which really sucks. I was so pumped for the Captain America figure, but now I might have to drop that one because Baby Doll, Amber, Ryo, and Saeko come out within months of each other and that's a huge investment right there.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Pretty sure it's going to be shortened before retail release, heh

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

IMO Q4 release is going to hurt this figures sales. There is so much iconic stuff coming for Q4 that this just doesn't rate for me. I really want to like it but it looks very toyish and those feet are horrible. At $300+ this will not be coming to my collection and that makes me a bit sad. New feet and a <$250 price tag would make it more appealing. BTW the base rocks though.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

I hope for at least a Neytiri and maybe the one that played her brother that got killed, no humans, that would be a waste, however I wouldn't mind a deluxe scale bad sergent figure with the battle exo type suit he used to fight Jake in the end. but that would be costly. :lecture

The AMP suit would be epic, however I think even that may be too much for HT; but you never know :lol

As for what I'd like to have out the the line... I'm down for Jake, Neytiri and Quaritch. I think those 3 would make a great looking set.

I haven't laughed this hard in awhile :rotfl

Yeah, I know what you mean ... I try to limit myself to two or so a year. I ordered the Indy. Canceled it for the Jack Sparrow. Ordered the Superman. Canceled the Sparrow for the Captain America. Now I'm cancelling Cap for Batman.

Superman and Batman it is.

I think HT is overreleasing right now ... there are some cool figures that aren't even making my radar screen at this point. I can't spend a grand on toys. I can spend a few hundred bucks.

Flooding the market is an awful business strategy.

Off topic. I fear this is the body (human scale) we'll get for GL. I must admit, it is kinda pukey.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Yeah, but this happens every SDCC... and business is still going strong.

Probably this is mostly helped by the fact that there will still be some spacing between when the figures will actually ship.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Whether these figures get bought up in pre-sale or not... it doesnt change the run.. Eventually these will sell out. Mark my words. The 2nd movie will be a major advertisement and people will be scrambling on ebay to get this just like they did with the Mark I and OC Batman.
