Re: Batman Begins: Batman/ Bruce Wayne (2011 Toy Fairs Exclusive)

Good point. It would have been a way not to devalue the OC and I still would have bought it.

I wouldn't have. just having a first night out Bruce does nothing for me. B/c then i'd have to go through the trouble of getting a cape and a cowled head and paint to less than HT standards. plus add the fact that I'd have to find a way to add a bat symbol to the suit... I would just stick with mt DX Bats. But with this release, I'm selling the DX to get it...ironic maybe :lol

Re: Batman Begins: Batman/ Bruce Wayne (2011 Toy Fairs Exclusive)

I'm only slightly p!$$ed off because of the timing - I was just about to sell an OC batman, my first ever sale. I didn't buy it with the intention of flipping it as I never knew I was ever going to sell anything and I didn't know it would be a hugely sought after figure. However I was going to try and make a decent profit on it (not an ebay scale profit but a decent one nonetheless). Now thats on hold till I see what happens. This new figure is fantastic though and I will definitely be trying for one.

Re: Batman Begins: Batman/ Bruce Wayne (2011 Toy Fairs Exclusive)

For someone to say that HT should have stuck to the pre-batman suit and not included the Batman gear and not compromise the value of the original to protect the customers who owns it and ends their comments with too bad for those who missed out and this figure should never ever be released again; That just doesn't make sense to me.

You missed my point

I'm not concerned with any devaluing impact this has on my OC batman, I never intend to sell him, maybe just his head for which I will soon have no use

My point is the only thing new with this figure is the first night outfit which is fundamentally compromised in accuracy because they decided to make this an OC re-release too! I want a freaking accurate first night Bruce and HT has given me a half assed job of one

Re: Batman Begins: Batman/ Bruce Wayne (2011 Toy Fairs Exclusive)

Honestly, I don't think it's all about the monetary value and being angry at the re-release as most of you think. Yeah, it's there but I don't think I've seen three people in this thread that have complained, only those who have questioned it. Questioning is different than being pissed off.

Personally, I'm indifferent. As I said, I'm split. I own the OC and while I'm not burnt by this release, it is strange to me. However, I will buy this set too.

Anyway, I think the real reason people that own the OC might feel scorned or semi-hurt are those that gave in and paid a pretty penny for one, assuming that Hot Toys would never revisit the suit. There's also those that money aside, want the exclusivity of the original costume, i.e "I have one, and you don't".

It may seem harsh, but at times, I've even thought this. "Oh hey, I got a sought after thing that I really like. People want this, so, I'm going to sit on it." The haves, and the have nots.

It's called jealousy. You have the said item and you don't want others to have it. It's not a kind or fair view to have, sure, but I think we've all been there at some point. I'm certain that is playing in a few Original Costume owners heads instead of the cash it generates.

Re: Batman Begins: Batman/ Bruce Wayne (2011 Toy Fairs Exclusive)

It wasn't directed to you just a line of thinking. I am with you, I will consider owning this piece to replace OC Bats. If it doesn't work out, meh.

That's how I'm approaching this release. My only "concern" (for lack of a better word) regarding the resale value of my OC Bats is with being able to recoup the cost of the Wayne figure. If I'm able to secure the new one for, say, $225 then I'd be happy if I got the same price for my current OC.

Naturally, I'd be happier if I made some kind of profit on top of that, but my primary interest is with the figure itself.

Re: Batman Begins: Batman/ Bruce Wayne (2011 Toy Fairs Exclusive)

Just file down the bat on one, and repaint. Bing, Bang, Boom, not Batman. Though to be completely honest, I would've paid extra for an extra Bat-less suit.

you cant file down rubber. it always makes me laugh when i think about people talking about sanding down the demon bats to make the OC hahaha :rotfl

Re: Batman Begins: Batman/ Bruce Wayne (2011 Toy Fairs Exclusive)

What are you guys talking about? There's one on ebay which still has some time left.
The rest seem to be 400+ which is hardly a white wash of devaluing.

Has there ever been any other example of a Hot Toy devaluing besides this small questionable example?

Completed Iron Man Mark II Listings
(highest price +shipping first)

Not saying the figure is worthless... but it was selling in the $500-$700 range before the AU was announced. Now the range is more like $300 to $400 with one outlier of $530.

So, not like its worthless... but if you paid $700 for the Mark II at its peak you have now probably lost $300 of your investment.

These threads scare me.

Over 1,000 posts. About 7 of those contain any useful information.

Re: Batman Begins: Batman/ Bruce Wayne (2011 Toy Fairs Exclusive)

I know it's long forgotten, but I think Hot Toys owes alot to Takara for the success of their Batman figures.

That thing started something completely different when it came to 1/6 Batman figures. It laid new ground. With the OC TDK Batman, Hot Toys heavily borrowed the ideas of the rubber suit from the Takara Batman, and greatly improved on it (better head, better proportions).

Still though, they came up with the design so I think it's worth acknowledging.

Now, Hot Toys has even gone with basically the same design function that the Takara utilized way back in '06. Give him a Bruce Wayne head, neck, straps and a ski mask and BAM, first night out Bruce.

We might take it for granted now, but back in '06 that was a pretty neat, well designed feature.

Where have you been man... this seems to be norm anymore :lol

I'm hoping someone will start a new thread once we find out where/when they can be ordered :lol

Easier said than done to file it down - if it was cast in hard plastic or something then yeah, doable, but in rubber, not so sure. But i'm sure i'll find a way :lol

yea you'd have to heat it up in tht area and "melt" it smooth. a member here did it with the Takara batman.

Or at the very least you could destroy the figure in the process :lol

Re: Batman Begins: Batman/ Bruce Wayne (2011 Toy Fairs Exclusive)

I like these re-releases, hopefully it can take away some of the "shine" of scalping these figures. Sooner or later HT is going to figure out that if we dont mind paying $500 for a figure later on, why not just charge $500 (or close to it)from the start?

:lol True. But this circumstance is kinda unique... This thing came out of nowhere and might actually have to be ordered VERY soon, which was also unexpected. So news and facts (though almost non-existent right now) are critical. Yet the diehard Bat-folks have already flooded the thread with crazy. I feel like I have to check this thread every 10 minutes or so just on the off chance I actually miss something important. :lol

Re: Batman Begins: Batman/ Bruce Wayne (2011 Toy Fairs Exclusive)

If hot toys doesnt put that manniquine with the figure, im just going to use the one that came with the dx joker.
