I've never ordered a figure from Hot Toys, but plan on picking this piece up. Can you pros lead me in the right direction. Is ordering strictly through their website? Or can you order from Sideshow?

Toys2.net or ebay if you want it the fastest. SS will be having some kind of free shipping dealio. Cheapest would be places like alteregocomics.com or cornorstorecomics.com

Eww.......

Just watched clips from the Smallville finale which has boosted my excitement over this figure.

Is there any word on whether the new film will use the Williams Superman theme? Have to say I'll be disappointed if it doesn't. It was one thing Brian Singer did right. Nolan got away with, and was right, not to use any existing Batman music in those films but with Superman...I think I'd just find it harder to seperate the classic Williams theme from the Superman character so as to try to accept something else. I just don't know if I could do it. That music IS Superman.

The only way to get past that and stay true to it would be to hire him. It's his style. I'm sure he would come up with an alternate. Since there already is an alternate theme.

I actually wouldn't mind them using variations on the Williams score for the new movie. If the "S", the suit, the hair, the cape, the flying, etc. can be iconic parts of Superman -- open to minor adjustment but not abandoment -- I don't see why the score can't be treated the same way.

I thought John Ottman did a great job using Williams themes with his own music.

I'm just wondering how different this new Superman film is going to be...so different that the Williams theme would be out of place? The Nolan Batman films were/are very different than the films that went before and Danny Elfmans or Elliot Goldenthals themes just would not have fit with that universe.

I hope they don't try to change Superman or the tone of a Superman film too much, if at all. Thus I hope William's theme will still fit.

I'd be happy if the Smallville finale was the last hurrah for Williams' theme, because the Donner, pre-Crisis version of Superman is finished and should be left to rest in peace.

I also don't think that today's generation cares all that much, if at all, for that theme and it would have little to no significance for them, which is a problem when you stop to realize that we're not the target audience for a Superman flick now. The current/new generation of fans needs their own version of him for the movie property to be successful. I liken it to my complete ignorance of the "Lonely Man" Hulk TV theme being played at the end of Incredible Hulk because I was too young to remember that theme, therefore it held no significance for me and I didn't even recognize it.

The John Williams Superman theme is timeless and universal. I just refuse to accept the suggestion that today's generation wouldn't recognise it or even 'not like it' were it to be their first time hearing it.

Maybe but the problem is with Hollywood today with the majority, what they come out with just downright sucks. It feels like quality is dying due to rushing. Passion no longer seems to fit into it.

I think this figure looks cool. I also think that it should come with a faux crystal stand that play the Williams theme at the press of a button.

That's your own appreciation for the theme talking. People with no exposure to it before may like it, sure, but it doesn't define Superman for them. If they're going to give the current generation their own Superman, which they have to do in order to be successful, they need to create something new from top to bottom. Part of the reason Superman Returns failed (for lack of a better word) was the strict adherence to the Donner version of the character and everything related to him, music included. Today's audiences flat out don't care about that version, and nothing about him holds significance.

We may not be happy about that, but that's just the way things work. To move forward, the current generation needs their own version of the character to identify with, not the version their parents grew up with.

There are lots of things I could say about Zack Snyder, but him lacking passion is not one of them. If anything he's TOO excitable and passionate, which is why I'm glad Nolan's around to reign him in and guide him.
