This thread is so screwed... :lol

We get it, Lord Freezer. You love the NECA P1 and hate the HT version. It's not like we didn't already know that after you posted comparison pics on nearly every single page of the NECA threads.
Even if the point of this thread was pure comparison (and a part of me doubts it is), it still wouldn't work because the markets are different, the materials are different, the selling points are different, etc. Apples to oranges.

In sculpt, it's obvious NECA wins (and this seems to be your greatest concern, and I totally agree with you here :rock).
In poseability, it's obvious HT wins.
In size, NECA wins again.
In accessories, HT mops the floor with them.

In the end, it's a toss-up because some of these things will matter to collectors and some will not. This will ultimately determine which piece is the best in each person's eyes and whether or not other people agree, it shouldn't have any effect on your own opinion.

Again, here's what I explained on the 1/4 thread, which addresses both pricing and the business models (roughly) of both companies.

In no way is one better than the other (different markets, once again), mostly because they have different purposes and different selling points. HT is all about poseability and pumping their products full with tons of accessories. NECA will usually give you the bare-bones, but they make sure the bare-bones are all the hardcore purists need to be happy.

Lastly, I'll try my best to explain the cost differences. NECA is just plastic. HT uses more types of materials in their figures, such as metal, various types of plastics (for different effects, like soft and hard, the clear layers of the medical kit, and the transparent water on the base), fabric, and real wire that works. Couple this with a highly-articulated body with a complex build underneath (rather than solid plastic), the aforementioned plethora of accessories, collectible-quality packaging, and you've got a $170 figure. With both situations, you get what you pay for. Simple as that.

There is no need for a brand-new thread to find "strengths and weaknesses" because the fans who choose which figures they want to buy already know them. In fact... that's why they buy them (gasp). This isn't a debate. It never was and it won't become one, despite your sincerest intentions. I'm pretty sure the thread will either get locked or trolled -- or both -- in the near future. These things just can't end any other way.

We understand your position and what aspects of a collectible matter to you, but this isn't the same for everyone. Sometimes it'll have to be a compromise, which is unfortunate.

The debate is not Neca vs Hot Toys. You should compare all models of the first predator. NECA and HT are not the only companies that have produced toys and models of this character.

The Neca P1 figure looks awesome. I only have the masked one but im really impressed. But at the same time It only has 1 alt hand, if i want to take the mask off or change the facial expression i need to buy 2-3 more figures. It keeps falling over as it has no base so i need to tie it to something or prop it up coupled with the limited articulation and the legs might as well be stationary because theres only about 2 combinations you can have them in before it eventually falls over. There is no Led's, external accessories and every time i pick it up i feel like the weight of the figure with my fingers gripping it is going to rip the body net.

I love both figures. Neca is way cheaper and visually more appealing but the Hot Toys has way more play factor.

Pretty much.

Pose 1 = cowboy walk
Pose 2 = lady squatting in a field to urinate

Meh, I prefer which ever is more accurate. I'm not a fan of inaccurate Predators.. So that's why I prefer NECA's 18 incher.

HT's could come with loads of accessories and the most amazing poseability on the planet, but i'd still go with NECA's because it actually looks like the damn Alien.

I would like to know how many of the Hot Toys P1 haters actually own this figure or have owned it in the past. I understand some of the issues that have been discussed but owning this guy and seeing him everyday on your shelf is something very different than looking at pics on the internet.

I owned him briefly last summer as I had no large predators; and I returned it a few days later and bought some PS3 stuff instead :yess:

It is really cool to open up, but there's just too many personal "touches" to it that I don't like. The base was very cool, however.

Somebody needs to post a comparison between the revoltech and neca predators, too. NAO

This cinemaquetta has a very beautiful face:

only the internal teeth of the lower jaw seems a bit 'small

I agree that NECA made the more accurate version, especially right out if the box. With tons of mods, the HT Pred can be an amazing figure, and it shouldn't be that way.

NECA= accuracy
Hot Toys= better accessories/articulation/features

It's just a matter of what you want to spend your money on, and how much you're willing to spend. I like them both, and have the money to spend, so I prefer both.

NECA vs HT.

WTF happen to HT's P1?

The mask is just totally out of proportion :(

But with the mask off, it looks fine...

Didn't even realise untill you put them both together.

Was hopping the HT would be perfect, having said that, NECA did a great job.
