Lol are most of you who are "" Fortnox even reading what he wrote? Just putting smily faces? haha He actually has some pretty good points that I agreed with.

Sorry *really really really good points.

Yep, I read it. And NECA is never putting a real groin cloth or spines on their figure's face. That's just something you can bank on.
Fortnox has been here before months ago, bashing the piece and droning on and on about how it wouldn't meet anyone's expectations. Now that it's finally out, he's returned to make a little correction: it doesn't meet his expectations, which are unrealistic and downright misguided (sorry, but it's true) for a NECA figre that costs only $80. He was against the figure from the very beginning and now that it's actually turned out to be a success, the only way he'll ever buy it is if it's cast in solid gold. Can't say I'm surprised.

Oh, well. More 1/4 Preds on the shelves for the rest of us. Then again, it's not like he ever planned to even glimpse it in the first place. So here's another set of smilies for him, because even those who didn't read his entire post were right: :cuckoo::slap:dunno

Here are some pics I just took. Hopefully, it'll give you guys a better idea as to how solid this figure is. Overall I am very pleased with it.

It's not perfect, sure, but I bet even Forty is secretly impressed with the way this Predator ended up looking. Pride's a funny thing. It's even funnier when a troll tries his hardest to keep it intact.

Anyhooozle... for anyone that has the masked version opened, can you tell me (or possibly take a picture) of where the helmet wires are connected on his back, if they are at all? I'm curious as to how easy it is to remove his head with those being there, so any pointers would be appreciated. I might need to customize them a bit when he arrives, but it would be nice to know in advance. :)

Yeah. I think the problem was there were no flattering pictures to this point. Nice to see a good batch. In my defense, we all go by what we're presented no?

You don't have to justify yourself to me, I was only joking :1-1:

As you said, if it really really bothers you I'm sure you'll be able to sell it sooner or later.

Okay, why not use the acrylics? I use them for Predators and they work. I then use Future floor wax for the semi glos finish.

Ohh..... Floor wax?
interesting
thanks That's what I needed to hear,
I have done a couple of repaints on some figures but acrylics always look so dry, looks like dry wood, someone told me to get a can of spray that makes things shine but, that was the extreme opposite, it was way too shiny
so you say that you use floor wax? Ill check

There are holes in the side of the back pack where the wires plug in. It's kind of tough though to get them plugged in.

Beautiful shoots, turtle!
What kind of camera are you using?

...and holy ___t at that life size pred! :horror:horror

Thanks MC. I shot it with my Nikon D70. Still learning how to use the thing. The life size pred is off the hook. It is one of my favorite piece in my collection.

That last pic with the big pred looks off the chain benny!!!

Thanks Isaac. Photos don't do your awesome work on the big pred justice.

Very nice shots turtle, the helmeted version is much nicer than I expected.

It really doesnt look a 80$ figure, in some shots it almost looks a high-end collectible. I would remove those ribbons in a heartbeat, though.

Thanks. Will look into replacing the ribbons. Have them in there right now so they don't look so bare.

Ok. YOU SIR, resold me. I hate the mould line (HATE IT), but those are some stunning pics. I expect to be flamed for this, but I'm man enough to not hide my reorder. If I hate it more in person, I'll sell it. But, your excellent photos have me willing to take the chance once again.

Thank. I think you'll like it. The seam issue bothered me a bit, but not enough to prevent me from buying it.

To be honest if I wouldn't know this is a NEca Pred I would say this is a high end stuff. It is just look that good on these photos.

Thanks!!!

Thanks guys. The seam is ther and it is noticeable, but keep in mind this is a $80 figure. The figure itself has so much presence that it is easy to over look the seam. Let just say it doesnt bother me enough to prevent me from picking it up at CSC.

Thanks the answer turtle!

Thanks! Are the wires glued or are they literally 'plugged'? Can they be taken out and reinserted then?

Centurion, my man, I told you why they haven't shipped yet and they may never ship from Amoktime, that's why I bailed on them, no way am I taking the chance.

EDIT: Out of curiosity to see how well those people at Amoktime are in sync with their news, I called them again and talked to a different guy who seemed pretty confident that they will be getting them. When I explained that I spoke to someone else who sounded less than hopeful he was perplexed and didn't know why I was told that.

So take that as you will but he did say that they probably won't be getting them until towards the end of this month or early June.

great pictures turtle!

can Anyone tell me what would be the best type of paint to fix this figure, I refuse to use cheap acrylics but, that's what people tell me to use

how can i make the paint look glossy without buying that spray that makes it look like nail polish shiny, any tips? I would appreciate it greatly,

Go with Liquitex high gloss varnish and paint it on with a brush. I can see by the pics the hands need more black dots on the top parts. Should be really easy to put a few black dots on the hands and then high gloss varnish over it and it'll look real nice.

awesome! thank you, :goodpost:

Got the closed mouth version, but I plan on getting a case of all three versions.

Currently, repainting the closed mouth head...with great results!

yeah, but I think I rather like for Neca to make a 1/4 scale queen alien, I don't know, that would be pretty sweet

that would be great, but hugh and i don't think they will make one that big, i would settle for an alien queen that scales with the 7 inch figures.

do explain :monkey1. Examples?

The main thing with the SS that's off some is the gun and backpack. One of the things I've aways liked is the gun and backpack. Looks like they made the ankle area thinker but I bet they had to beef it up some for production. Some of the detail is just a bit soft like the wrinkles in the feet and hands. Still though much like the CM the guys that made the real one put this one together. I think that's a cool thing and I missed the SS one and now wish I owned it.
