polystone btw isnt exactly bronze or gold either (its a relatively cheap material).. just sayin. so long as the paint doesnt chip on this years down the line... ill be satisfied. btw what causes paint flakes? is it lack of primer or too heavy of a coat?

Here you go...:rock :rock :rock

This is the most righteous looking comparison yet!

I keep telling myself that I don't like Thor...I don't like Thor, but damn if this photo isn't top notch...:monkey1

if you had the THOR PF id appreciate a comparrison. i dont think mine will be here until Monday or Tuesday. wont be able to do an unboxing until Tuesday. Happy Easter btw to everyone. got a flight to catch soon.

Thanks celtic! It is incredible. Glad I got it. This is my first 1:1 bust, so I wanted to point out that this piece doesn't feel like polystone. It is definitely hollow (even the helmet wings) but feels flimsier than polystone - almost like a closed cell styrofoam or something. Are all 1:1 like this? Not a complaint, more of an observation. What do you other guys who have this piece think?

I didn’t want to comment on the material used for the bust, because it was just going to give ammo to all the haters that want to shoot down this awesome statue.

Truth be told, since you asked, I honestly think the base is solid (to add weight), but the bust is fiberglass (just a wild guess). I have a few Oxmox life-size statues and this bust feels almost the same. The other busts produced by Sideshow were not made with this, with the exception of Carnage.

Some people will hate this statue for this reason, but I personally like it more than resin. The reason is because it saves me a lot on shipping. If this bust was made out of solid resin, then it would have cost me at least $100 more on shipping alone. Another thing I like about the material used is that it seems like it is tougher than resin and will not break as easily and the paint application is just as good as any statue I’ve ever come across.

My only concern is the paint flaking off. I pray this never happens with this bust, but only time will tell if it will stand up to what eventually plagued the Iron-Man bust.

The Hulk Bust is the same its also made from a fiberglass mix. Paint flacking is mainly down to missing a patch on a statue when applying the primer. I have the Iron- man bust and no flacking.

Haters are going to find a reason to hate anyway so I'm not going to edit my posts to try and avoid it. I think you are right in that it might be a fiberglass type material for the bust and wings. The product specs might say 34 lbs, but no way this bust weighs that much - probably closer to 20 lbs. None of this is a bad thing IMO, just different. This is the piece of the year for me so far.

I tell you owners of this bust one thing. You want getting any hating type messages from this collector. You guys might get tried of hearing me glorify this bust. Then tell me to shut up if your not going to own one of these bad boys...:D

Won't hear any complaining from me or any other Thor fan :hi5: that's for sure.

I'm glad even a non Thor fan can appreciate it

Can you really call it a statue? Isn't it a glorified PVC toy? lol?
Anyways...saw this at SDCC...my main complaint was the paint looked dull...is there a glossy look in the eyes? Can't tell in the pics.

Deadly Dagger...hater

Oh yes, I am a hater because I didn't like the posters comment that it felt like Styrofoam. That would be cause for concern to anyone reading that it feels like soft styrofoam. His words, not mine. After all, we're talking about a big ticket item. People will take whatever you say and twist and manipulate it. No haters in this thread. So give the hater thing a rest. I am the guy that is plunking down 7 bills on this bust. Would a hater do that? I get my bust this weekend. I just wanna make sure I get my moneys worth. I am actually happy if it is made of fiberglass. That's a great material. Based on the plethora of pictures posted, I am confident I will be extremely happy with my purchase. :rock

Dude, I don't think anyone is calling you a hater - definitely not me. I used the words closed cell styrofoam but I didn't say it was soft. It is sturdy but hollow like a thick eggshell. You'll see when you get yours.

My reference to haters was in general to the people that don't like this piece not you. I'm not going to avoid talking about something because it may give haters another thing to hate on about this piece. I don't care what they think and hence the haters are going to hate comment.

Now STFU Eli. :wave

Everyone should hault on purchasing this item!!! (since i havent been able to get one yet save one for me!!!!!)

Now celtic you better get one now before you miss the opportunity and have to resort to the secondary market for one...plus I know you have Thor fever and the only thing that'll cure it is a glorious Thor 1:1 :wink1:
