I've only removed about half the rivets, it's kind of a pain in the arse to paint them out. I think it's already looking pretty awesome though, I hope they make this.

If they redo MIII then it better be more accurate with the movie quoted "Hot Rod Red" and not the burgundy maroon flat plastic color. It has been proven so many times in the MIII thread that the promo pics do not match the color of the Mark in the movie by pulling actual movie stills. Even though in the movie there are very few scenes may dispute the red color but majority is red and to actually fit the dialog and possibly the comics that hot rod red IS the accurate color.
sorry to get OT but this misinformation better not result in an inaccurate MIII ;)

:borg:

Geil: That flat maroon IS movie accurate. The bright candy apple red is NOT. The armor is neither "hot rod red" despite the dialog nor super high gloss. The original Mark III is actually way more accurate than the Battle Damaged Mark III.

My guess and hope the next two announcements are Iron Monger and a new Mark III. They have actually put the unpainted proto on display so I'm hoping that means it will get produced. It would also make a lot of sense to release a new Mark III around the same time to go with it and unless the sales of the new Mark II are abysmal I can't see them not re-using it's largely new molds for a new Mark III.

I nabbed one of the EX versions off SS yesterday. I'm so glad someone from here gave me the heads up so I could grab one before they were sold out.

I just received my Mark VI yesterday and thought I was done for now. :lol I guess Hot Toys had other plans for me I wasn't aware of.

I would def love the whiplash armor at the end of the movie...

I am still on the fence with this one. Worst case I can get it for $200 and if I don't like it.. sell it easy..

Having looked at a bunch of iron man pics trying to get the color right for that mock-up I did the head is definitely too small on the new Mark II. The problem is the heads are too small across the board. The Hot Toys figures have classical "heroic" greek proportions which I think look better in 1/6 scale but aren't accurate. So the problem is that they have to maintain consistency with the rest of the existing line in terms of head size.

I don't see the problem in what Nash's doing. These items are based on pre-orders. If he pre-orders 10 pieces, means 10 more are made for him. he is not depriving of others for the figures. He can pre-order a million figs and it would not be a difference. The problem? Those who did not pre-order and get it after these hit the shelves and no longer in production. Those are the people driving the prices up.

I had the original Mark III and then replaced that wit the BD version.

If they released another version of the Mark III like dedguy's mock up there, I would be all over that!! :)

Same here. I had the BD version and I sold it. With the Mark IV and VI looking so much better, the BD MK III looked inferior standing next to them. With getting this new MK II, it would be awesome to have an improved MK III to stand along side of them.

Yeah I mentioned this on another thread. I sold my original Mark 3 and was thinking of the BD version. When I saw the ridiculous proportions I just decided againts it hoping they will just re-do a new Mark 3. Probably they will.....

Who wants a new Mark 1?
Not because I want to, but just to see people's reaction after spending $1K on the original.....:thud:

We would never get an Iron Monger would we?

Hard to say. We're talking about Hot Toys here. :D
They did show a proto at this years Tokyo Toy Show, so we'll wait and see what happens with this one.

I hope this one gets released.

Oh people have been begging like crazy in this thread for a new Mark I. It's possible but much less likely as has been pointed out, headsculpt aside it's pretty much perfect already and unlike a Mark III you can't re-used the new Mark II stuff to make a new Mark I :p

I certainly do. I know it's my fault for skipping it the first time, but I refuse to pay EBay prices when I can get the Sideshow MK I Maquette for retail.

Most geek like folks are not that rich so essentially if anybody wanted to get one of these in a years time, they cannot because the lovely Nash here boasted to us he will mark them up to $500.

There's no care for fellow geeks who like figures.
The only concern here is money.
It's greedy, selfish, lacking any kind of decency and a shining example of the kind of behaviour that does us humans so well.
It's not oil or diamonds here or luxury items for the rich.
It's toys. Toys that are dearly loved by many folks who work hard to afford these. :lecture

Justify it all you want. It's a d*** move plain and simple.
I'm ok with making some cash. I ain't ok with extortion and blatant greed, especially when boasted so openly like a complete ****head!

Anyways, I have done this dance before so don't what to take the thread of course. Very few agreed with me last time so I expect the same here!

Back on topic! :)

i would love a mark 3. a new one, just like i was wanting a mark 2.

BUT i wish, given this chance to IMPROVE on their past mistakes, they would have done without the rubber abs and done something more like the IV and VI, such a wasted oppurtunity...

RUBBER ABS BLOW.

Yeah, agreed. As awesome as the torso articulation is on the Mark IV/VI I was really hoping for something similar here. I can look past it but it's a bit of a disappointment for sure.

I get what you mean Eamon, but for this case, these items are like I said, pre-orders. Nash pre-orders 5 for "himself" which is fine cos he's not grabbing these off a shelf. Sure it sounds blatant about the amount he "assumes'' he is going to make but you have to remember, he is also taking a risk. If the figures are a problem then that leaves him with 5 predicaments not just one.

Those did not order have their reasons, whether it's short of cash, or just unwilling to commit on a product that hasn't been released due to QC risks etc. but these people are the main part of the problem, they are basically eating into the numbers that are made for those who pre-order the figures. So you can actually say, those who's pre-ordering more are actually helping the collectors because they are the ones making more of the figures available on the market.

That's a backarseward way of looking at it. It's logical but I don't think anyone preying on the aftermarket should be applauded.

Really, I just think it's an exceptionally stupid way to make money. The risks are very high and the payouts are very low comparatively. There are much much easier and safer ways to make money.

Yeah it was my fault too for not getting the original Mark 2 and Mark 1 the first time around but I've always told myself, I would NEVER pay more than $30 above retail for toys and I'm kinda glad I've managed to keep to that promise. I know it sucks paying over the odds for the original Mark2 but hey, with this hobby, you can never be sure on new re-makes and or even re-releases.

I think they could do a lot more to improve on the original mark 1. How many times have we said, HT will never top themselves and they prove us wrong. So many details that can be added to the Mark 1 to go along with an improved Tony sculpt. I for one hope for new Mark 1, 2 and 3.
