I'm waiting on this one, too. Until the guys that usually get it straight from HK have the figure in hand and mess around with it to show us what it can do to justify that price. I think Buttmunch is right that HT is pushing their prices up just because they can and believe that the demand for their product justifies it. For me, I am just waiting for the Superman Reeve HT figure and after that I will probably start losing interest in HT products if their prices keep going up like this.

Yeah I agree about the increasing prices but I did still order a MK V because it's such a cool design.

I'm just going to be a bit more picky in what I buy if the prices continue to rise, I can't justify the asking price for Indy, not on it's current appearance anyway.

i decided to focus mainly on statues for a bit, then they went and decided to make the Mark V, The Tron Lightcycle, and probably others i wont be able to resist when the time come.

Thing is HT is awesome my Mark IV is outstanding, better sculpting than all of my statues.

What if the piece felt more solid?
Not that it would make the piece "look" any different, but I do remember feeling the Berserker predator in my hands for the very first time and thinking how it added to the quality of the figure.

Perhaps this won't justify an increase in price, but it sure would be nice especially after holding the awesome Mk.IV and thinking how hollow it felt.

Although I don't like displaying the Mk.III BD with it's damaged helmet and chest armor, the Mk.V just looks a lot better in the damaged form in my eyes.

When I first got the mkI figure I was shocked by how many big easily exploited holes there are in the armor. There's large portions of the torso left exposed and really big areas on the legs most notably on the hips and ankles. Doesn't make it a bad design or anything, or really make it unrealistic that he was pretty much unstoppable. It's just that in the film you never notice it.

Likewise on the mkV the figure, with the battle damage, I never realized how close Tony was to having horrible burns or even complete limb loss. It's crazy, and really cool, that you can see his racesuit through the damaged parts.

I suppose: Mark V is just Armour exterior protection (no added hydraulic, strenght to user)+ Repulsors

I was thinking that as well. A full suit of medieval plate armor could weigh as little as 45 lb. (less than what modern military guys wear) and it's distributed all over the body so you would hardly even notice the weight. So with the modern much stronger and lighter materials available to us in the present and then extending beyond that to fantasy materials Tony would have, a suit of armor like the mkV would be very easy to move around in weight wise without any additional strength needed.

That V armor could weigh as little as 20 lb. easy.

I really wish the price on this figure was a more reasonable $160 - $170. He's truly fantastic but what you get in no way justifies the asking price.

I agree, comparatively the price is high but also think it's not artificially high or anything. It costs what it needs to in order to be financially viable. But it does feel too expensive compared to the previous IM figures from a purely consumer angle with no consideration about the manufacturing side.
