Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

Tumbler was like $450 when it dropped. Now people are asking that for the Batpod.

Wish like hell I had the $ when they came out.

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

I think a 1/6 scale '89 Batmobile would be one of the biggest hits ever if Hot Toys did it. The Hollywood Collectors Gallery/Cinemaquette studio scale '89 runs $2000 and clocks in about 1/8 scale and is a little shy of 28" long. And that thing according to sources on here, SOLD OUT. Hot Toys could do a 1/6 scale version, even though it would probably be just shy of three feet long, but it would be a fraction of the cost. And for collectors like us, we WOULD sell that thing out in a heartbeat.

I would fork over $500 for a '89 Batmobile in a heartbeat :yess:

HOLY CRAP!! sweet stuff!! do you think we might actually see prototype figures this coming week like they already did with the Raiders indy? and what are they doing with those B89 posters up? are they gonna be haveing some kinda display of the figures there soon?

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

I doubt we see anything other than an official announcement on their facebook wall (along with Captain America, Sucker Punch, Pirates, Metal Gear Solid and the rest of their new licenses).

From past experiences I expect the announcement on their facebook wall in a few days or next month.

As far as actual figures go, as I stated in the '78 Reeve Superman thread, I'm willing to bet we get a Batman '89 teaser in June/July with specs and pics July/August. That will be about a year from now until actual '89 product is released (about 4 months after official specs, give or take).

So I wouldn't go looking for any product pictures until this Summer and don't expect to have the figures in hand until next year.

For now I'm going to enjoy the announcement and wait patiently. We've waited for years for this so what's another year? I can wait, god knows I have enough stuff to hold me over. This is going to be great.

I'm a bit more hopeful I guess. I expect to have a Keaton Bats in hand by September. Make it happen HT. :lecture

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

The way I see it, this is as much about doing '89 Batman as it is about sustaining TDK momentum.

DX Batman shipped to DCD folks in May. TDK was a huge seller for Hot Toys, TDKR comes out in 2012, so, they put out the Scarecrow and Demon Batman in December with this show, sprinkle some Burton Batman figures throughout 2011 and jump head on into TDKR for 2012. They ride momentum when it's there, like the T1 and T2 figures after all the success of the Salvation line. It's good for use, and I think it also will pay off in getting the Batman '89 stuff during 2011 because they'll want to have TDKR rolling out for 2012.

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

Call me crazy but I bet we see a proto shortly before Spidey ships.

Hmm, that reminds me.

Wasn't Spider-Man featured in a similar booklet with other upcoming licenses similar to this one (instead of Batman, Indiana Jones, Pirates, Metal Gear Solid and Sucker Punch it was Spider-Man, Smooth Criminal, Tron, Expendables erc. right?) That was in July I believe, and Expendables Barry still isn't out yet.

Then earlier this month (5 months since the license announcement) we received the teaser for it and then a few weeks ago, the official specs and pics were released.

I think we're a while off from anything yet, but this is Hot Toys so who knows.

Yes, summer 2009, Hot Toys announced a Marvel movie license for the X-Men, Blade and Spider-man trilogies. While Spidey specifically took over a year to happen, 2 blade figures rolled out sooner than that. Don't remember when Blade debuted but he was the first figure that was part of that announcement to be shown off.

You're such a downer, man.

Re: HT Batman 1989 Coming

True, I guess that isn't a very good point and maybe I should be more optimistic. I just don't want to look like some of the fools in the Reeve Superman thread.

Look at the T1 Tech Noir T-800. September hit and, BOOM, the T1 license and teaser came out of no where. Now, a mere 3 months after the fact people are getting them and we've been about a week into in hand pics.

It was only a time frame of 4 months.

I wish Hot Toys had a consistent track record. There's no guessing what they're up to.
