See, as much as I would've liked that, I think I would've been bored by the time they get back to the mansion and have to go through the whole thing again, with the movie turning from horror to SciFi with the introduction of the hunters, giant moth, etc...

Not necessarily following the games story completely but just along the same lines. The first zombie you come across in that game ( if I'm remembering correctly , this is years ago now ) is eating a guy after you walk through a door and turns around slowly. That one game cut scene had more going for it in than all the resident evil films rolled into one imo.

Whilst they're watchable it feels like the transporter with zombies to me.
The first game or the fourth would make great films if done correctly I think . It seems to me there is some unwritten rule that if you're making a video game movie it has to be completely action packed but I think when transfering something from a game to film certain things , maybe even the overall feel has to be changed in order for it to be a solid movie.

Think the Shining book and then the film , many things were changed although in most peoples opinions for the better. The same goes for a lot of book to films , I think the same thing usually has to be applied with game to films.

If there are several spelling mistakes there I've not slept for hours ( again :gah: ). :lol

No, I hear ya. RE was the first and only game to ever make me jump. There's a green hallway after coming in from the yard, and a recessed door halfway down. The camera angle and rumble pack ____ed me. :lol From that moment on, I was hooked.

Unfortunately, I think there's less terror/tension to be felt sitting in a movie and watching people clear zombies out of a mansion, than there is watching them try to keep a mob of zombies from getting in. Plus, you've only got two hours to tell your story vs. a 20+hr game where you have plenty of time to build up terror as well as character and plot. So I think it'd be really hard to pull off (it was hard enough coming up with an airsoft scenario around zombies :lol).

I thought we might get to see some of that with the follow-up to Diary since the premise was pretty much there when they locked themselves in the mansion's panic room at the end, but instead, Romero made the floatie of a follow-up Survival which followed the thieving, douchy military team nobody cared about.

Yea its nice for all those people who like to watch people get tortured. Why do they keep making these. I like the old school horror films better.

I would say they are successful. But there not really good horror films. There made for dirt cheap and they release 1 every halloween. Of course there gonna make $$, but horror films are also hard to pull off. I think the Halloween, Friday 13th and Freddy are better tho, I hated Rob Zombies halloween films, but the new Nightmare was badass and the Friday was pretty good. Texas CHainsaw massacre remake with jessica beal is a great one to. Horror is hard to do.

Zombie's Halloween movies > SAW sequels.

BTW...
according to Box Office Mojo...
as franchises, here's the list:

1- Friday the 13th $380.6

2- Nightmare on Elm Street $370.5

3- Saw $370.2

4- Halloween $308.5

5- Scream $293.6

6- The Exorcist $291.9

7- Final Destination $220.9

And this isn't even considering adjustment for inflation...

Once the next Saw comes out, looks like it will be on top. The rest of the movies on that list will be "PWNED"!!

I think the new Saw movie will most likely get PWNED again by Paranormal Activity :wink1:

Paranormal Activity, that crap shouldnt even be in theaters. l would rather watch all the season of Hannah Montana. anyway l liked the last saw. which was the 6th one l think.

When did that happen ?.:monkey4
I was looking forward to that , wasn't it supposed to be in the snow ?.

It's on hold... it might take some time, but it'll come... I'm sure!

Ironically Kevin Greutert the director of Saw 6 was going to direct Paranormal Activity 2 but was forced to direct Saw 7 by studio execs... even the director knows PA is a better idea than Saw... :lol

PA. there is nothing entertaining watching a door slam shut and hearing noises. l can watch that for free on one of those ghost hunting shows on tv. thats all PA is. just a fake version of ghost hunting shows.

Aren't those on Cable TV?... so not free really... :wink1:

I can appreciate both suspense, as well as gore... when the movie is clever enough to use it accordingly
but not everybody can... :dunno

Unfortunately Saw started as a great concept, but honestly I stopped watching after Saw 3...

I thought PA was pretty good actually, but not as good as the first saw...and neither were even close to as good as drag me to hell.

Sent from my DROIDX

PA had a few decent scenes. There is no way my ass would have gone into the atic lol. Also the alternate ending with the chick slicing her own throat should have been used.
