I'm really peeved at the news that Lucasfilm has banned Dave Prowse from Celebration 5 and future events.

I've signed up to this petition online and there's nowhere near enough sigs on it yet, spread the word and let's get our Dave Prowse back!

Simply put, Prowse marches to the beat of his own drummer, which is Cardinal Sin #1 within the LFL Family.

Anthony Daniels is actually a much bigger jackass and a pain in the ass to deal with, but he's good with fans & crowds and doesn't step on Lucasfilm's toes (he just stomps on everyone else) so even he remains in good graces.

Prowse started sealing his fate back during the production of the OT films. He'd blab details about the movies to Sci-Fi and movie magazines at the time. In fact, he is personally the reason why the "I am your father" line wasn't actually said on set (it was done in post only). He had no idea about the "I am your father" line until he saw the film for the first time with an audience. Lots of interesting Dave/LFL stories.

Not necessarily. He can still do Dragon*Con and tons of other conventions on his own, as he has for years.

The Dave Prowse is Darth Vader thing should have been a clue.

Yeah, that's been a problem for a long time, too. He was also very vocal about not being asked back to wear the suit for ROTS.

I remember hearing mark hamil in an interview about the "I am your father" scene. They told him to react to a terrible, earth-shattering bit of information, and told prouse to make something up. If I remember correctly it was something along the lines of

"Mark, I stole your Car and wrecked it while you were in make-up" During one of the takes.

Back on topic, Sucks about Prowse, but when playing with someone elses toys, it's best to do as they say, lest you get asked to not play any more.

He was also shut out of the first Celebration in '99. But he still traveled to Denver and did a private signing in the lobby of his hotel.

He wasn't exactly be forthright, either. He's continually asked LFL for some royalties, and they basically have said, "No. That's not in your contract."

Others who didn't have that in their contracts have gotten residuals from Lucas, because they don't rock the boat.

While I don't wish the man any ill will, he did irritate me a couple years back when I was trying to sell my Empire Strikes Back poster which he, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels, James Earl Jones, Peter Mayhew, John Williams, Jeremy Bulloch, and George Lucas autographed over the years. I really needed the dough so I listed it on eBay and someone claiming to be David Prowse's representative had the auction shut down because A) I was selling David Prowse's autograph without consent and B) they felt the autographs were forgeries (despite the photos I posted of myself with the actors, taken at the time of the autographs.) eBay would not let me re-list the poster.

Then again, I once posted an auction of the old Jabba's Skiff Guards figures which I had custom-carded and Lucasfilm had the auction shut down on the basis that "this does not represent how these figures were intended to be sold."

Go figure.

I've met Prowse and Daniels and Prowse was way, way, way more friendly. Daniels is very..................very...........old school British

I got to hang out with Prowse back in 96' he was a nice guy, but he has been ticked off at Lucas for a long time. He told me when he found out they were not going to use his voice for Vader he didn't bother to learn any of his lines for ESB or ROTJ. He basically feels he did not get the recognition as Vader. He felt that LFL was promoting James Earl Jones as the embodiment of Vader. That's why he sighns his autographs as "Dave Prowse is Darth Vader"
