Yeah, I can't imagine who was responsible for that decision. Fortunately, we're expected to see at least three new dinos from Papo next year. I'm hoping for a massive sauropod at some point.

Outstanding news. I'm always intrigued to see what they churn out. :rock

Hi everyone! First post on this forum, but I've been a silent observer for a while. :)

Perhaps it's a little late, but I thought I'd post some pics of my Sideshow Tyrannosaurs rex maquette. When I first saw the piece I wasn't very impressed. I didn't really like the red colour on its head, the spikey protrutions on its neck, or the heads slightly boney appearance.

However, after reading the backstory, and some of the excellent posts in this thread I made a 180.
The battle scars, diseases and old age is very evident, and the immense power of the animal is obvious.

The Tyrannosaurus rex was quite possibly the most advanced and powerful large predator this world has ever seen. And IMO this sculpture captures this image perfectly. This is a T. rex you don't want to mess with.:)

I've liked dinosaurs ever since I was a kid, and on my spare time I sometimes like to draw dinosaurs, or build dinosaur skeleton kits. Apart from my Horizon T. rex, this will be my second fleshed out rex.

I'm very pleased with it! Keep up the good work Sideshow!:clap

And now to the pics!

I hope you all will like them!

the 1st time i saw this piece i didn't think much of it, but the more i see it the more i like it. i would like to add it to my collection but they have now sold out at sideshow.

Great pics Robban, the lighting you used really brings out the subtle paint on the head & back.

I love my T-Rex - such an iconic beast & so well done.

Nice shots, Robban! Make sure you hold onto those Horizon kits - they're pretty valuable these days.

Thanks Reinhardt! And thanks guys! I'm glad you all like the pics!:)

The lighting is a mix of daylight from a window lighting it up from the side, and a regular roof lamp giving it some lighting from above creating the necessary shadows for depth.

@dansdinosaurs

Yeah, I'm going to take good care of it. I've had it for many years but I have yet to put colour on it. It's pretty much the same size as sideshows rex, so I think they'll look great next to each other!:)

Stunning pictures. I'm glad to see there's still appreciation for this magnificent piece being fostered. :hi5:

Natural lighting really does seem to bring out the color range the best, and it's always my own preference as well.

The UV component of sunlight will quickly bleach all the colourings in the figures rendering them dull and pale. White color suffer the most as it will quickly turn yellowish. For that reason, my collection room is all covered up with blinds to block out the sunlight which would otherwise stream in from the windows.

Meh. Mine is adequately distanced but still receives some natural light. Never had a problem, though that's not in bare, open lighting; same reason you aren't able to get a sunburn through glass: UVA and UVB rays simply aren't strong enough to travel through glass. If you keep collectibles under bright, stark lighting for some time without a barrier then it would damage collectibles. As I said, I've never had an issue, though.

One thing I know if your collectibles or anything gets some natural light it's perfectly fine, there is a problem only when you get direct sun light, that is a guaranteed it will damage it.

Hi, everyone!

I'm new here. I'm so glad to see you guys who love dinosaures.
I love dinosaures too. My first dinosaure was.....

Very nice, Neng. Is the banner actually made of paper?

And I have seen objects that were sun-bleached, even when supposedly protected by glass. So there must be more to it.

I've wondered about the banner's material myself...I orig thought if I ever bought that piece I would try and suspend the banner from wires overhead...more film-accurate that way.. ;)

I use mostly those new energy-saver flourescent bulbs , nightlight bulbs and a few of the old regular bulbs here and there. I got rid of the big long flourescents...too white..they washed out the color and tones on just about everything. I don't have hardly a window present in my display room downstairs so sunlight isn't a huge concern.
