Somebody in the building your marines correcty was offering painted by THE Les , a spikey haired hicks and a hudson.
i just said, i will post some pics this week!!!

Big pig , if its just the heads you are worried about, then stop that nonsence right now.
You can get all kinds of marvellous sculpts for your ALIENS figures.

I stand by what I said. iv checked out quite a lot of the custom sculpts and none take my fancy. Am sorry but to me the quality just aint there to fork out money on the figure then more on a custom sculpt to get it in half decent shape compared to today's standards.

I would buy the whole line if it was redone to a high standard but I can't see that happening

Should Hot Toys "RE-DO" their AVP & ALIENS lines?

You crazy Dutch bastard!!!!

I agree that the ALIENS Warrior should be redone. Personally, I like the sculpt. But the rubber and whatever joint plastic they used was a complete let-down. I have ALIENS Warriors that I posed ONCE and they just naturally became loose.

Hot Toys has grown leaps and bounds since then, so a re-do of that Alien would be nice.

Personally, I don't think ANY ALIEN fans can EVER 100% agree on what the "perfect" Big Chap is. Every version that pops up whether it's a statue, figure, etc. is always HEAVILY criticized and more criticized than ANY Alien/Predator item I've ever seen. Hot Toys' figure are based more on what the interpretation of the creature is supposed-to-be, and not replicating the man-in-the-suit look.

A re-do of Hicks would be nice, he is THE iconic Colonial Marine. I'm sure they could get Michael Biehn's likeness now.

right. and that goes back to my first post about HT getting rid of their design/tech team.

i don't mind when McF makes "interpretations" of Alien figures.
nobody had high expectations for them. and the figures were dirt cheap.
HT is another story all together. they can do much better and choose not to.
because "interpretation" is an excuse for lazy sculpting.
and so long as that mindset exists, we'll keep getting funny looking alien figures.

basically, i don't want HT re-doing anything if they're just gonna put out the same inaccurate/flimsy stuff i didn't want the first time around.
give the license to a company that gives a damn about accuracy.

Do you mind giving a clear explanation of what you're looking for?

Yeah, the overall quality of the materials on the old ALIENS and AVP Aliens was crud, but HT itself was just learning.

Consider that there might not even be a plausible rubber and plastic that is long-lasting and damage-resistant that can be produced at a reasonable price.

I would disagree on some of that. For instance, look at the HT Preds. Any of 'em. Their heads seem quite big for their body (at least when the armor's off), simply to replicate that man-in-a-suit look. Or at least, signify that there are wires and cables and other junk inside it. Afterall, the original thing was an animatronic mask.

On to Prefused's point, like Bardoon said, HT was really learning. Their sculpts and paint jobs (well, their paint jobs for sure) have grown by leaps and bounds since they started out. Look at the upcoming T-800. Look at the latest Predator, the P1. Quite easily the best all-around Predator figure they've done, because they've found the balance between detail, overall sculpt, paint, and poseability (his build is much more flexible and can achieve deeper crouches, for instance).

This, of course, doesn't mean I dislike my other HT Predators. They're fantastic. But, having HT go back to them with what they know now would mean almost a certain improvement (of course, if anyone sees that coming, I'll be sure to get my older figs off on eBay for the new-and-improved ones :)). I think it'd be a welcomed idea for serious movie-accurate figure collectors.

Funny then how the man-in-suit look is much cooler than HT's "interpretation". On film the Big Chap had real menace, HT figure would elicit 'laughs' from me if it weren't such a disappointment. That face. Same goes for the dog alien with its piranha mouth. I mean are they really how the creatures are 'supposed to be'? I think not. We're not talking about HT making the decision not to sculpt that zipper that was briefly visible in such&such a shot - their changes are nothing to do with creating realism and everything to do with 'meh, its fine, its a _____ shaped head - clearly an Alien'.

I agree with you. I don't have the first 3 USCMs HT made, early on this bothered me greatly but now not so much for the reasons you state. Its just too much money to try to bring old figures up to modern standards when there are many brand new figures I want.

Would not b so sure about that Barboon,
Great actor that michael Biehn, but he always wants more cash,
did you know that for Alien3 he got more money for the use of his picture ,then he got for the whole ALIENS movie, now thats ridiculous.
,

T1 police station shootout
T1 Kyle Reese future soldier
T2 endoskeleton (great figure but could be improved in a few ways)

in addition to brand new figures like Tech Noir T-800 and 1984 Kyle Reese for the Terminator line.

We need a T1 endoskeleton instead imo (with the correct design), but I'd still like to see both

I think he was quite clearly stating that he wanted more accuracy in the sculpts and less interpretation, no?

I must have missed that.

And D-Chaos, I do recall that Biehn got a boatload of cash for Alien 3. Whose not to say he might ask for less now? That was over 20 years ago when he was still in the spotlight.

Anyways, the debate about HT's items could go on and on. So if you want a more accurate sculpt of some of the Aliens they might still happen! But it's best said that if you don't like it, don't buy it.

How many of you hate the Big Chap sculpt and still have the figure?

I'd get the Dog Alien. Wish they wouldn't have screwed up the mouth like they did, but he's on my Want list... even though the Dog's mouth looks worse than the Big Chap's mouth IMO.

You're right it probably does. I dunno, it just seemed to be even more a kick in the face when the Big Chap, the one we'd all been waiting for, then turned up with a face that bore no resemblance to the creature in the film. It was clear at the last that HT didn't really care about accuracy with regard to that particular franchise and who the hell knows why.

Aliens Warrior, and Alien Big Chap? Yes, because the original figures were less great than they should have been, and those are characters from great films that deserve justice. Same for the Colonial Marines. Though the gear is nice, the bodies, heads, and BDUs could use upgrades.

Predators, I personally don't think so. The most iconic Predator was done and done exceptionally well. The others are from lame films that I don't care about.

haha, So because YOU think the films are lame they shouldn't be remade? look on ebay, not everyone shares your thoughts. Also, they won't redo the big chap alien, that basically just came out and you could still buy it for retail
