It really does look like the heads were warped in the manufacturing process. I doubt it will 'return to normal' after any amount of time - it looks like they were removed from the mold too early, while they were still too soft.

And I think I recognize that pre-prod photo of Venkman, Mr. E! :D

My thanks to Mr. Michael Crawford, lady's and gents, for providing such wonderful skill and mastery in picture taking skills. :)

I didn't know Venkman was played by George Clooney. :lol

It actually looks like the same sculpt to me, but the apps are terrible and a lot of the detail has been lost (especially with his hair). Glad I'm replacing all of my Mattel heads with Spenser's versions. :monkey1

I'm pissed Mattel didn't bother to display a production figure at C2E2 three freaking days before it was released. Jerkstores.

Its no suprise that TheFwoosh.com didn't review "this thing" before it went on sale like it did with all prior releases.

Bill Murray strikes again.

Do you think it was Murray?
Or Mattel?
I'm thinking maybe a bit of both, but I think it was pretty shady of Mattel not to show or mention any updates on the sculpt...
this is going to hurt the line methinks...

I seriously hope that this is just a random bad paint app, at least with ray and egon, you got what you ordered, with venkman it looks like an entirely different figure! It's a really crappy thing to do with a figure you can't check before buying as it's only available online and the only way to get it is to order it now before it eventually sold out, especially as they knew that he'd sell as well as he did......bad form mattycollector, but then they've pretty much screwed the pooch on the 12inch line, proton packs aside

No, Bill already got his paycheck for this deal a long time ago I'm sure. He probably doesn't give a damn about being immortalized in plastic.

This is a screw-up in manufacturing and painting overseas. Not the first time this has happend, it certainly won't be the last.

im glad ive got vartel's murray head waiting so im not too fussed about the sculpt. none have impressed me so far.

Venkman is in hand. and, while not the unmitagated disaster I have been expecting since photos of the production sculpt surfaced, the portrait is a far cry from what the prototype represented. Very cartoonish.

A few quick pics..........

Sure doesn't look much like Murray. Or Clooney either, for that matter. What's with the eyebrows, anyway? Again, just glad I wasn't planning to use the head or body anyway. :monkey4 The packaging isn't too shabby though. :)

That looks ridiculous -- as bad as Ray.

What's all the licensing nonsense -- you don't need to license a likeness for caricature?

Looks like Mattel went for a cartoon style loosely based on the real actors. Very loosely.

My intent was always to swap out the heads or I would never have even gotten onboard this train...

I know people are swapping out the whole suit and boots, but honestly I think the suit looks fine, just needs a dash of gray dye. I think I'm even going to keep the Mattel boots and just paint them up. Only thing I'm definitely replacing is the web belt, the elbow pads and the heads. Of course, I say that now...

That first in-hand set of photos looks worse than the packaged ones. Weird...The softness of the sculpt is what's really killing me.
