Re: Official 3D ALIEN Prequel Discussion Thread

New information.

I went back 10 pgs and couldn't find a Thread for this here so here we go. If there is one Mods pls merge. :D

It has been Confirmed the Alien Sequel will be shot in 3D and that it takes place about 30 years before Alien.

https://www.slashfilm.com/2010/03/04/ridley-scotts-alien-prequel-will-be-shot-in-3d/

Interesting that it'll take place 30 years before, wonder what the story will be about and how the 30 year lapse for Weyland to move on acquiring the Alien will be explained, hopefully they explain how Weyland is even aware of the species.

Well, best to leave this thread here in the Movie Discussion Section then I guess. Not everyone checking out Movie Stuff goes there, but they do come here. Cool?

Fine with me, it'll likely happen again anyway.

Re: Ridley Scott's A L I E N Prequel 3D

An Alien movie in 3D? :drool

Thankfully, I have faith that Ridley's use of it will be like Cameron's, to enhance the story, not just for gimmick, so should be interesting, could be more frightening than ALIEN if done right.

Re: Ridley Scott's A L I E N Prequel 3D

3D. They want to rake in those Avatar bucks...but with an R-rated movie?

Re: Ridley Scott's A L I E N Prequel 3D

Wow, never thought Ridley Scott would be back for an Alien film... I'm very interested in this :rock

Re: Ridley Scott's A L I E N Prequel 3D

This is the best news ever. Ever. In the history of this Franchise. This...THIS is where it needs to go.

This is the best move Fox has ever made. I can live with the 3D. It'll be cool to see the Alien headbiting your face. I'm so excited!!!! :D

l dont think it will be are R rated all movies maker care about is money the original predators and aliens were all rated R then the avps were pg 13, this will also be because that way it will make more money because kids will see it and there the bulk of movie ticket sales.so then the movie will then suck, barely any swearing and gore.but l prey im wrong.

Re: Ridley Scott's A L I E N Prequel 3D

HOLY LACK OF PUNCTUATION BATMAN! lol

It will be R. Scott isnt a moron. He knows what the Alien series is. And no how it is not, in any shape or form a kids series. They wont do it, it will be R-Rated. Life is good.

Re: Official 3D ALIEN Prequel Discussion Thread

God, I'm SO ___ing sick of 3D.

It's the lamest thing movie makers have ever come up with.

Re: Official 3D ALIEN Prequel Discussion Thread

Take it that you didn't enjoy it's use in Avatar?

Re: Official 3D ALIEN Prequel Discussion Thread

I tried to go to a regular (non 3-D) screening of Avatar, but when I got to the theater they handed me the glasses. Then I saw that all the showings at that theater were in 3-D. I did not want to wear, and did not enjoy wearing, those glasses for two and a half hours.

I'm hoping for something original from Scott concerning the Alien franchise. If it turns out to be a simple remake, in 3-D, I may "attempt" to never view the film at all. Like I could even succeed at that.

But seriously, please give us original ideas Hollywood! :(

Edit: I should have read the update on this first, seems somewhat promising now. But I am tired from school and work, so I'll reread this in the morning to see what's up with by favorite film of all time.

Re: Official 3D ALIEN Prequel Discussion Thread

What's funny is that this NOTHING in that article that states the film will be shot in 3D.

Only that that industry art director, Roger Christian, has somehow confirmed it.

I'll believe it when I get a quote from Ridley.

Re: Official 3D ALIEN Prequel Discussion Thread

Well even on the DVD commentary, Scott talked about the idea of exploring the history of the Space Jockey and things like that, I would imagine this film will be the realization of that.

This is the make or break moment for the future of the franchise, either Scott delivers a film faithful to the origins of the series or he doesn't, if he can't be faithful to his own film, then I can't imagine who could ever recapture it. I suppose some will argue that George Lucas didn't capture the magic of the first Star Wars trilogy with the Prequels, but that debate is almost endless.

Re: Official 3D ALIEN Prequel Discussion Thread

Actually, going to pop in the DVD of Alien for the 8,567th time to ruminate on this news. Don't know quite how to feel about any of this...

Re: Official 3D ALIEN Prequel Discussion Thread

I'm split, the mystery makes ALIEN interesting and creepy, but another part of me would love an explanation as to how there seemed to be a lone life form running that ship, a load of eggs stored inside, how the company even knew what was on that craft to make it worthwhile exploring. I have a feeling that this movie will answer such questions, maybe not the central story, but at some point, that's the only real reason I can see for going backwards with the story.
