I think I'm going to at least do the bottom tonight and see how I like that. I just think there is a bit to much red on those sleeves. Its just that there isn't a hem or any other kind of boarder for those until the fold.

EDIT:

I went ahead and did the bottom. So without having to take a new pic, he looks like this now:

Yeah, I'm thinking that too, I'm just not sure yet how to go about it. The collar and the bottom were easy because they were clearly defined (the bottom has a hem line that I used as the guide). The cuffs don't have one till mid forearm. So I'd have to free style it, or if I even used tape or something else as a guid, there would be no guarantee it was totally straight. I'll have to play with it some to figure out how to get a nice, thin line of red on the ends.

Then I do plan on getting a belt and having a pistol holster and a sword on it. The sword would stray from the Resolute look a bit, but since IG Destro had one, it isn't uncharacteristic of Destro to have one. It would give him more of that officer appearence too I'd think.

He's looking nice. But maybe it would be good to bulk him up a bit. He looks too thin to be Destro.

I might do that after I get everything all together. The coat does already add a great deal of bulk to him compaired to the CC uniform he is wearing underneath.

OK, no offense, but you all officially s*u*c*k!
I read Elvis' thread last week and got bit by the bug to "update" all my classic, old school Joes and Action Man stuff. This morning I happened past this thread and saw all your guy's cool work.
As fate would have it I wound up near a Target/Wal-mart shopping center. I now have all but Destro which is the one I was actually considering.
Now I just have to decide how I want to proceed with these.

Painted the buttons gold and painted the collar with red fabric paint (it was a dark green material and didn't dye with the rest of the coat). So now I'm thinking about doing the cuffs and bottom hem. What do you think about that? Good idea or bad?

Photoshopped:

I don't know why, but for some reason, that trench looks like denim. :dunno

Well it doesn't look like denim in person :lol

It was originally a greyish color, so the dye took very well. I was afraid it wouldn't because the material was a little velvetish.

Glad to have you back Nam!

Hey, Levis has their Silvertab label, so if ol' McCullen decided to sport it, it's fashionably expensive. I'm waiting for someone to try the pimpdaddy look. :lol

In all seriousness, looks like it's coming along nicely. Not sure how you'd pull it off, but if you can mimic the red stripe down the center of the coat, it'd finish him off with that little extra pop. I'd also maybe come back a bit on the cuffs (I know it's photoshopped). He looks like he borrowed Zsa Zsa's muff warmers.

I could follow the stiching in the front for a thin line, and possibly for the cuffs as well. Let me hurry and throw a photoshop together so I can see what you think of it.

EDIT:

Here it is. I quite like it! I think I'll try it!

Looks MUCH better. Is there any way to paint/unpaint the collar down to just an outline instead of the whole thing being red?

No, its not possible. The main thing was that part didn't dye. It was a different material, and it was dark green in color. So it just had to go. So considering that, I think the all red looks much better. But yeah, if I could have just done it as a trim, that would have been great.

And I'll get some new pics up once I get the trim down.

Maybe pick up some denim fabric paint and paint it to match the main coat, leaving a red trim? :dunno Also, which TT is he on?

He is actually on the Pro. I don't have his feet in all the way/right way so that gives him the added height. Pro's not so bad when in the right clothes :naughty

Thought so. I was actually going to suggest that if possible, you pop him onto a TT to better fill out the trench. Destro was a biiiiiiiiiiiiig man. :lol

Hey, have you thought about putting this logo on his sleeve or somewhere on his person:

<a href="https://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n135/cathayone/?action=view&current=destrologogoldsm.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n135/cathayone/destrologogoldsm.jpg" border="0" alt="Destro logo"></a>

It's more accurate than a COBRA logo and I think it's one of the coolest logos in the G.I. Joe universe. It screams Destro.

Nothing screams DESTRO than a big logo screaming DESTRO! :lol

And no, I haven't considered that, but perhaps for the base? I know Evil already did one like that for someone else. I still haven't decided if I'm going to put a Cobra logo on him either. It would make sense given the colors. I mean, its just a greatcoat. I don't suppose Destro would be above wearing a Cobra coat over his own garb. I mean, that is basically what he was doing in Resolute I think.

Its funny how much people are so against Destro being Cobra affiliated. I mean he practically lives at Cobra HQ and has always seemed like a second in command to Cobra Commander to me (I don't recognize Serpentor or the Cobra-La crap). :dunno
