While the cartoons were fun and made us play with our toys, nostalgia aside, there's a definite age cap there. Check out the Marvel Comics run (now being published in TPB by IDW). Great Joe stories and a plausible continuity started there, and IMHO, died there.

I actually agree with you!!!! :horror :lol

I agree with you to extent. The Marvel Comics run definitely had it's footing in the real world, but towards the end of the run . . . IMHO . . . it strayed.

The Devil's Due run of the series with it's faults . . . picked up where the Marvel Comics run ended, but it too strayed significant with way too many offshoots and completely lost it's focus.

The IDW run . . . I'm still evaluating it, but I am not completely impressed with it so far.

I don't know anything about the kinds of profits they reaped or failed to reap with this series, but they sure seemed popular when it came out. Hopefully the DVD will sell well enough to convince Hasbro to do a sequel, and to release more Resolute figures.

While the Marvel comics strayed a bit, they were still the best. Anything from Devil's Due is just a blatant bastardization of anything Marvel did. Zaran not really being Zartan?! Um... yeah. They just took too many liberties. As for IDW, they're basically copying Hama's orignal stuff but not doing a very good job of it. So for this, make mine Marvel.

Did you read that Chuckles mini series from IDW? One of the coolest Joe stories I have ever read.

I did. And yes, it was cool, but Jinx is dead before G.I. Joe even really starts? WTF?! I have the Giant Sized Special Issue and haven't read it yet. But as good as that is, and as cool as it made an otherwise irrelevant character, Chuckles, I still think the Marvel stories were that much better. :dunno

Oh yeah *spoiler tags* NAM! :rotfl And its not that I prefer one over the other I'm just saying that IDW showed promise with that series. Besides people gotta die...can't always jump out of a Skystryker at the last second with a parachute. :lol

Uh... did you read the title of the thread? Why should I use spoiler tags?! :dunno:lol

I just watched this the other day and I thought it was pretty good. I still haven't watched RoC--it's been in the Netflix envelope for weeks--I just know how bad it will suck ass and I can't bring myself to watch it.

Broke my no ROC rule today but it was a for a good cause and for $5 I really couldn't say no.

*Billy Dee Williams voice* It's not my fault!

Had Hasbro not dropped the ball on Resolute product this amazing figure would not have been saddled with the shtty ROC figures packaging. But I digress.

I kinda want a 1/6 version now...
