We're bound to see a Hulk at some point, because they included him in their poll.

Plus, he's winning.

The Blade I costume was the best in my opinion....
I think it would make a better figure since the accessories were cooler, like the vest (more detailed), glasses and his serum stuff that he uses attached to his arm in the final battle...
Put it all together with a great sculpt and XMO Wolverine Body with Snipes proportions (and the tatoos) then you have a great figure...

Well, as far as I know, he's one of few, if not the only, really iconic Marvel character that hasn't been done by Hot Toys or Medicom, and certainly no quality mass production pieces have been made to capture his movie forms, Kotobukiya's pieces were lousy.

When I first heard about this line, i was told that the Hulk was going to the first figure released. That was well over a year ago, so plans may have changed. Keep in mind that HT has the comic license and the movie license so it could be one of many, many Hulks.

Bring on comic Deadpool, that's what I really want them to do!

1. From who were you told?
2. Can you confirm that they have the comic license because HT has only announced a film license
3. Since Hulk wasn't announced in the movie package deal, can you confirm whether or not it will be from a dedicated line of The Incredible Hulk?

:lecture Ditto. We are a suspicious group

Stevenson embodied Punisher as I think of him. He was a remorseless killer with flat affect, he had guns and weapons out the wazoo, a dry sense of humor, and a slight bit of goodness, but mostly driven by pure revenge and hate.

Plus, a figure with his armor and weapons would just be awesome.

He would be the version for me.

1) Can't say, sorry, but they were right about Watchmen and they were right about the Marvel movie license, so......

2) Yes, they have the comic license. It will be announced eventually.

3) I'm not sure which Hulk it will be. My understanding was that it would not be a specific comic Hulk (Ie; Red Hulk or McFarlane Hulk) but that may wrong - as my source didn't disclose much detail on that front. I'm assuming it will be a big green Hulk that is evocative of the classic Hulk look, but not tied to a specific era or artist, kind of like the early Bowen product was designed to be iconic/generic if you get my drift.

Frankly, I'm curious to see how they approach it. Is it going to be a new large base body with a rubber suit or a full sculpt like Iron Man? My feeling is that second option works and the first is a fail.

I don't think they'll do a Hulk (or any Marvel comic character) -specific line. I think they'll do Marvel Movie figures in the MM line and will have a Marvel Comic line running simultaneously (once it launches). I'm not sure how quickly any of it will roll out, because unless HT ramps up their staff, there are a lot of figures to do. Can't imagine we'll see more than 4/5 a year from each line, unless there's a movie that would call for it - like IM2, which clearly has three characters worthy of figures right out of the gate - maybe 4 or 5 if War Machine and Nick Fury make appearances.

Interesting. What I meant by Incredible Hulk specific line was from the film not a Comic based. It sounds like from what you are describing that the Hulk will be a comic based generic which is surprising that they'd do that one and no support the film since it'd be a good test on the market and in line with the MMS. Hmmm....

Thanks Jroug. Feel free to pop by and share anything else you're privy to. ;)

I need to think about what organs to sell for when they announce the comic line.......

Any ideas when we will start to see anything from the Marvel line? Personally, I can't wait for any Blade figures Hot Toys makes.

If a comic line is indeed coming, then this is both the most exciting and depressing (for my checking account) 1/6 scale news since the announcement of the Sideshow Joes, for sure.

Dammit.

Yes, frankly I'm terrified at the prospect of buying all of these - because clearly it will be necessary. I can't even imagine what they might do in this line that I would pass on. I just can't!

I seriously doubt this line would too extensive. DC Direct's Comic inspired line is 40 figures deep without the announcements for the next couple of years. I don't think Hot Toys has that kind of staying power. I have a feeling their comic line will have a couple of hot ticket members which will mirror the movie versions, maybe one or two whom are popular but do not have film properties and then that's it. Hot Toys isn't really known for its long running lines. If we see even 10 comic figures that aren't variants of one singular figure I'd be shocked.

However, unlike most of Hot Toys' other lines, this is something that would warrant lots and lots of figures. Most of their non-military lines are based on specific movies, and there's only so much you can milk those for (though they surely do milk them--look no further than the 20 some-odd T-600s).

From an economic perspective, this line could just keep going and going and going, and as long as HT maintains its high level of quality, I figure people would keep on buying.

Here is the thing, these will cost $150 minimum. If they were to go 40 figures deep we are talking $6000 without shipping costs, taxes for some, etc. That is at $150. I doubt many people will be completists at those prices. The second thing going against them is that if Hot Toys wants to make these sellers they'll hit the heavy hitters, which means Spider-Man, Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine which is redundant since we'll already be getting movie figures of the majority. I don't think you'll get Spider-Woman or Doctor Doom or even Apocalypse. Which will be a turn off for some because while if you're a Spider-Man fan having the movie version next to the comic version will be great I seriously doubt they'll go all in just in hopes a comic Green Goblin or comic Vulture will come around. At Hot Toys prices a full fledged comic line has more going against it than for it especially depending on fan support and so I still say you'll get comic version of hot sellers probably some variants like Brown Suited and Tiger Striped Wolverine but nothing like DC Direct has done and their line is seriously lacking.

Well in that case I'm skipping most of the MMS Marvel figures :monkey5
Hope you are right!!

Regarding the sale of more obscure Marvel characters at that price point, like everything, I think it depends on cost vs. profit. Some of even the most obscure character would sell. Perhaps on the order of a Sideshow run for an obscure 1/6 scale Star Wars character, though.

The problem is, we don't know much about the details over at Hot Toys. Cost of production, profit margin, number of figures sold, etc. As such, we don't know if it would be worth their while to sell more obscure comic characters or not, because we don't know the cost of producing 2,000 figures vs. 10,000 or whatever, and we honestly have no idea how many of a typical figure they actually sell (or maybe someone does know this? I don't).

Companies like Bowen produce expensive statue representations of reasonably obscure characters, and seem to thrive. I'm not very familiar with statues, but I suspect they have a fairly limited run that still makes the production of these pieces worthwhile, because of the price and the number sold.

Of course, the more popular characters would be most likely to get released, and I can't see them getting around to characters like Deathlok or Hellcat. But I don't know that it's unreasonable to expect the core X-Men and Avenger characters, Daredevil, Doctor Doom, Spidey's villains, the Fantastic Four, and numerous others. It wouldn't be tough to get to 30-40 figures and still be dealing with fairly well-known characters.
