wow this guy is really inviting the wrath of members here, isn't he?

p, we all respect your right to express your opinion. but there is a more civil way of doing it. when u come here and slag other members off for not being able to use our eyes properly, etc, it is a little patronizing and borderline rude. and then u turn around and act all surprised that folks are reacting negatively towards u?

this behavior is not necessary.

HT Predators are the best.P1 and P2 are my favorite Predators ever.
They are 1/6 scale figures. What more do you whant, the first time i
saw HT P2 It was like a dream come true :lol I think that Hot Toys dose
a amazing job and ther work just keeps getting better and better.

For me the HT preds were just such a massive step up from the McFarlane ones - thats where I was coming from with the Predators. When I look at those Movie Maniacs figures now they appear so quaint it boggles my mind I ever thought they were acceptable....although I always hated their biomasks and dreadlocks. Comparatively speaking Hot Toys have these areas dead-on. I guess this is why I've found any flaws in the HT preds to be much more excusable than P. finds them to be. Any mistakes, apart from the dramatic undersizing of the P1, are small enough that they really don't compromise the figure's recogniseability as a Predator and indeed the particular Predator its supposed to be. As with many people here I don't think its going to get any better.

However I can't slag P. for his annoyance that Hot Toys often just fall short of complete accuracy. I have often felt the same. In fact I recall being much more pissed off about this very figure when in-hand pics first started showing up...I've just gotten used to what we have.

by the way for those who said "sell it sell it":
i've got "an exclusive helmet" which i really don't need at all:)
although I always hated their biomasks and dreadlocks
p1 of MF was quite cool. p2 was really awful, that stupid body, helmet and small gun on a big stick. by the way HT made the same small gun on a big stick :) i hoped they will make it movie-like. maybe one day they will decide to re-release both predators with better bodies and normal armor surface :)
searched for 1/6 predator-2 custom shoulder gun to replace the one of HT, but never found anything.
the dramatic undersizing of the P1
by the way he looks really small with dutch especially, and dutch is oversized.
check this - https://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w290/Tinkey-Vinkey/Terminator/slutterminatorpredator.jpg - it is a dutch body, but the neck is shortened and there are feet inside boots, while dutch has leg pegs inside boots, and they are put TOO high.
delete the long neck and too high pegs placement - and predator almost goes in scale.

I've just gotten used to what we have.
the same with me. i just see the mistakes and mention them. don't know why people here try to persuade themselves that i hate this figure.
maybe because they need a reason to cry and shout - and have to imagine it? :D

by the way about that masochistic "getting used to" - when i waited for P1 release, i was even glad that he is not too close to the movie and has all the same mistakes like P2. because if i got a perfect P1 figure, i guess i would have to throw away the P2 :D
and now they look fine enough. i just try to never look at movie photos.

Right answers...

you may want to tone it down a little, cuz you're coming off as a newbie ass.

Perhaps there's a language barrier. Maybe it's because you're posting these thoughts on the internet and I can't read your facial expressions. Perhaps it's because I don't know you. The bottom is, you've lost all credibility with me when you say this now...

But yet you said this previously...

i have two and i am calm about them.
bad face sculpt, stupid anderson armor with holes. these are not P1s, but as HT P2 has nothing in common with movie P2 also, they are enough for me until somebody finally makes MOVIE preds, not comics mutants.

so many people without eyes?
well, that's why toy producers don't even try.

not 2. only 1.
it looks like a spaniel.
they are sad and kind comparing to amasing stan winston's work.
check the movie. p1 has a bigger "no nose" area than p2. they catched it, just made the angle wrong.
that's why i wonder why HT are so delicate about predator details but always make them look wrong.
well, it just proves that stan winston wasn't just a regular monster designer, as his work cannot be repeated.
after watching mass-produced sculpts, custom sculpts, or fan drawings i understand that it is not easy to repeat his design.
but this doesn't cancel the fact that HT preds are the best but still so far from originals. that's why i cannot understand people's admiration for them. they are just the finest until somebody makes movie preds, not something just inspired by them.
anyhow the bodies are awful, and the armor has those stupid carves of anderson's crap - instead of being smooth like winston did.
especially P1 body armor and P2 helmet look like they have been taken out of cow's a_s_s (hello automoderation of this word).

the whole thing i started is that i cannot understand all those "yeeeeah this is the ultimate movie predator". it is a toy with a really little likeness, no more.

Back-peddle and contradict yourself much?

by the way. being rude and not noticing it is my old problem. my friends give me credit for it, but of course people here didn't. i listed the thread back several pages and should say i feel sorry. won't even notice several others' posts with "gfto" and other swears. also deleted what have written in this post some minutes ago.
let's go back to figures?

I don't think anyone wants you to leave. Not me anyway. An internet forum is a good place for healthy discussion and debate, and we all won't agree on everything. But demonstrating a bit of tact when voicing your opinions or addressing others will result in reduced flaming of your hide in the future I'm sure of it.

You are completely entitled to your opinions, P., and they are legitimate. Please don't be put off of posting because people disagree with you. I think the language issue does make some of your opinions come off as a bit abrasive, though, which leads to similarly abrasive responses.

now i feel really ashamed %)
so back to figures - anybody can tell some better way to make smooth, black helmet glasses than using a floppy disk like i did? the material is cool, but i have problems with superglue going out when placing the glasses back to holes.

p1 of McFarlane was quite cool. p2 was really awful, that stupid body, helmet and small gun on a big stick. by the way HT made the same small gun on a big stick :) .

I like the McFarlane figures for their nostalgiac/historic (in terms of toys) value only now. When I have display shelves again I may display them with their Hot Toys equivalents to show an evolution of the Predator toys but in their own right they're not the best to say the least. McFarlane really messed up the P2, but for some reason everyone loved it at the time. That was a Predator that looked nothing like the film! The mask was completely wrong and the dreadlocks were laughable. The gun on a stick issue is something I've never really thought about. But you're right it is odd. Surely it wasn't like that in the film?? It doesn't seem like any thought went into 'real world' workings of that. No wires or anything.

by the way he looks really small with dutch especially, and dutch is oversized.

Dutch is only oversized compared to the Predator though. To every other HT human figure he seems too short if anything. Any shorter than he is and we'd all be complaining. The core of the problem is the Predator - he should have been bigger in every way. The Dutch figure really looks like he could be a fair match against the Predator in a hand-to-hand fight and this is obviously not how it was in the film.

Yeah I mean everyones entitled to there own opinion. Now I will share mine.

To me as for predator...think about the other toys that have been out there and Hot Toys easily delivers the best predators to date. If you nit pick, sure you'll find something wrong with anything that is made or replicated in a sense, but again for whats out there and what HT has produced through there Predator line, its easily top of the line.

the gun in the movie was big, much bigger, almost like the P1's. and it was hmmmm... "fat", not plain.
the stick was very, very small, very difficult to see.
strangely the toys of P2 repeat the overall construction but totally mess the proportions.
p2_cannon_link.jpg

i can't believe how my predator 1 looks closer to charlie brown than the predator in the movie.

completey wrong. can't even recognize it. maybe it was supposed to be the Carl Weathers character and they put it in the wrong packaging?

or maybe it was supposed to be lennox lewis but they totally got the jaw line wrong if thats the case.

we have a proverb "a critic is an unsuccessful writer".
and you guys are critics of a critic. think about it :)
